R33 Rb25De+T Won't Reverse

Hey guys, bought my first skyline last night! Heaps of work done to it but was stolen soo bought it cheap cause of the damage to ignition and wouldnt start. I got it started and found reverse doesn't work. It engages but feels like something is stopping it and makes a slight grinding noise in gear when clutch is fully released but doesn't move. When the car is off I can put it in reverse and let the handbrake off and it would roll.

Any easy fixes or is it time for a new box?

sounds like reverse doesnt have many teeth left to me. But not sure. Looks like a box out job anyway

Sh*t.. Are rb25de boxes different to rb25det boxes? It's running a standard gts rb25 gearbox

As far as I know, yes they are different. But not 100% sure

Yes, totally different gearbox. The RB25DE box is the same box as the RB20DET and RB30E (just with little ratio differences). The RB25DET box is the big box. Basically the same thing as the GTR box (minus the transfer of course) and VG gearboxes. About twice as big, about twice as heavy about twice as strong.

The little box doesn't last long when given RB25 turbo torque loads. And apparently, when stolen, doesn't last long when slammed into reverse while driving forwards either.

Got gearbox swapped and the reverse idler had lost all its teeth and reverse gear lost one.
