Hey Guys, I wouldnt normally post this, and If the mods dont like it they can delete it, but

Driving home from Eastern Creek yesterday, a Maroon R33 GTR with the plates JET 26L was cutting in and out of traffic, driving like an absolute Dickhead, obviously speeding.

Narrowly missed me as he cut me off, as well as many other cars. All while cracking (external) gate.

Now time and a place for everything. This was 6pm along a busy Cowpasture road.

My only hope is that someone that knows the owner, will read this and tell them to pull there head in.

Its no wonder imports are targeted. FFS.

ok, been thinking about this thread.

time for my 2c.

please note: these are my thoughts and opinions only.

I think you could have gone about this slightly different.

instead of describing everything the driver was doing wrong, could have just said driving like a goose.

in regards to speeding how do you know?

did you have a radar on the car?

could have been doing the speed limit whilst everyone else was going slower?

cutting in and out of traffic, to maintain his speed?

ive done this, whilst sitting on the speed limit due to slower cars on the road.

cracking gate, in which gear?

1st or 2nd can crack gate within the speed limit in most areas.

and imports are targeted as they stand out.

this is the reason theres not more name and shame threads for normal cars.

they blend in, and you dont really notice most of the time.

now, im also NOT saying the car was adhereing to the road rules, I wasnt there, and dont know.

but, could there be even a little doubt?

again, just my thoughts.

As some advice - if you see someone being a dickhead on the road and potentially endangering others, no matter what car they drive - pull over and call the police assistance line on 131 444. Let them know the details of what was happening (car type, colour, registration; not too many details eg. BA MK2 Falcon XR6 - just say blue ford falcon) - if an officer sees them soon after, they'll pull them over and give them a bit of an earful.

Like it or not, we're all part of the greater car "community", and there's always muppets. I'm all for name and shame, but these people also need a bit of the powers-that-be smackdown too.

Use the above responsibly though. The police have a pretty full job as it is, and only give them a call if you honestly believe a driver is endangering others with their actions.

SAUNSW (nor any other car club) endorses being an idiot on the roads, and we try very hard to encourage people to use their cars in a responsible manner on the track etc, and get it all out there.

sighhh... but saying that I believe most Skyline drivers are quite well behaved on our streets.. I often see more dickheads in Hondas and rice rocket lancers being complete twats on the road.

Well, that escalated quickly.

There are some valid points in this thread, and I agree I could have worded the the original post differently. (although not sure if the msg would get through)

My sole intention of this thread was the (slim) hope that either the driver in question saw it and thought to himself what he'd done, or someone knew him had a word to him.

In reflection, maybe I would have been better off reporting it to the police, instead of relying on the possibilty that this community, which I consider to be a strong one, having a word to him.

I also understand not every skyline owner is on the forums.

MOST are.

but like every segment, youll always have those who dont think at the time, or just dont care for the rules.

i'm with you , i totally understand your viewpoint - in fact i did something pretty much similar to you last year, in that i was the target of a bad and abusive driver (he was in a V35 skyline) and i posted over in their area, instead, some people laughed at me, some people supported me, but most people said that posting up was pointless, like here.

but i too felt that i needed to say something, in case that person was on the forum, that their behaviour was NOT OK (deliberately blocking me off, verbally abusing me etc).

OP: Drive like a dickhead they deserve to get called out. Dont care what car they're in. Good post. (although nothing will come of it)

Benji: You've missed the point of the thread...

I'm going to disagree with a lot of people and say: 8/10 skylines I see, spot me and FLOOR it past me.

its almost like "OMG a skyline I must be on boost when next to iiit!!!"

sorry, but the majority of import drivers I see are morons.

They might just be happy to see you and want to get your attention with a wastegate wave to play. Skylines are very communal cars :)

However, point acknowledged there is an appropriate time and place such as race track or drag strip.

So you've seen me driving then?

:whistling:

There could also be an underlying unknown context, such as his wife was in the backseat and the baby started crowning; or his mate was choking and he was racing to the hospital; or he had just said something really inappropriate to a bike club's Sargent at arms and his driving behaviour was literally for self preservation :) Best to just call the Police, if it's really dangerous driving.

Are you sure it was a 33 and not a R32 GTR? There was a Marone R32 GTR with those plates on elizabeth drive(this was about a year ago though) that shot past my cousins car a few times at high speed.

How's this..

Going to Brisbane about 7pm (PowerCruise Weekend) to work on my 32 the following day..

And everyone was just sitting behind this police car at 110km, not daring to go 1km over to pass him. Haha.

Herd this supra on gate come screaming sideways onto the M1 from the on-ramp, doing well over 110 when he boosted off..

The cop car just sat there, didn't follow him or anything (Probably wouldn't of caught him :/)

But I was just like wtf..

In his defence maybe he caught the number plate or radioed someone ahead, but I highly doubt it.

    • Is there a shroud around the tailshaft spline into the back of the box? They can rub and make a horrible noise if they are not on straight/damaged. The heat might have caused it to grow too much in one direction and rub.
    • Strangely I noticed it either disappear later in the day, or not be present. I definitely noticed when I was crawling around that open wheel thingy entering the pits (that part was audible in car). Driving home and commuting around town for example, I didn't hear it. It's plausible that it was a brake disc or something still slightly in contact. The brakes absolutely felt BAD for the first couple of sessions, huge amounts of shudder and grinding as they got up to temp - And then I actually just forgot about it as the day went on/didn't notice it. The videos were from the morning when this was more present than the afternoon/drive home when it wasn't. I've asked around and got a variety of responses including handbrake shoe contacting hub, CV joints, CB tailshaft bearing as above, and clutch input bearing. I didn't test if it disappeared when clutch was in. I haven't noticed it in any of the other videos nor did I notice it when driving to that extent. More or less hoping the microphone at the rear license plate giving some kind of clue of 'something' but it looks like "spin stuff and see if you can notice it" is the way forward here. I could be smart and use the gopro mic and re-mount it to that location to see if the sound is still present at low speed actually. Sounds like a decent test whenver I have the CBF'ness to drive the car again. Given it's almost 40C for the day of the track day and the next 3 days after, the CBF is high. All I've done since getting home is unpack the car, remove the remnants of the lip and undertray and left it there. I was surprised how well the PMU Club Racers actually worked. The brake performance on the track was absolutely fantastic, best I've ever personally used, no fade whatsoever and the bitiness was almost too good, I was scrubbing more speed off than I needed to, but I also ended up infield when I started trying to scrape off ... less speed.... so...
    • Not really, no. Anything you would do is easily reversible.
    • I would like more noise related info for my truly uneducated guess  Does it do it at idle or when revving, clutch engaged, and disengaged? Does it only do it when the car is moving? I've heard "similar" noises from a clutch pack that left the chat room, and CV joints that have chewed themselves out But as Matt said, how's the yokes, tailshaft and centre bearing going after their last little issue Fingers crossed it is something simple  Weird noises make me cringe
    • One other question, is there a chance that changing the idle speed can lead you down a rabbit hole and is the reason the tuner didn't touch it? Reason I ask is because if that's the reason the tuner avoided it then I probably shouldn't be touching it lol.
