Eating at your desk is bad for your health, your moral and your productivity. Just sayin'

Why?

Long story short not having a proper period of downtime at lunch increases stress significantly and doesn't give you a chance to recharge. As a result you are less likely to be as creative, as productive, as happy or as healthy in the long run and your work output and quality declines both in the short and long run.

There is a decent amount of scientific research in the area, I can dig some up for you when I'm not so swamped with other research assignments if you'd like. I used a chunk of research into the area when preparing a workshop last year on why stress management needs more attention in business. In terms of directly linked stress issues that can actually be measured, work related stress accounts for losses to developed economies of approximately 2.1-3.6% of GDP. Why add to that figure by not taking 30 minutes away from your desk to unwind at lunch?

If HR guys like me can save big chunks of money I'm all for it :) Stress related work absences cost the US Economy $300 BILLION a year.

I'd be willing to bet most of that stress comes from low wages and high expectations of employees...USA for ya.

Problem i have with the 30mins lunch break is if i drive to subway to get lunch, by the time i get back it's 28mins gone, takes, so naturally im eating at my desk anyway, and i wouldn't call those 28mins i spent driving to subway and waiting for food "relaxation".

But it certainly is nice to be uncontactable for 30mins at that time.

Bought a reconditioned CAS from USA it arrived today :D

Went to work sick rather than having day off cause I wouldn't be resting at home.

    • hahaha @joshuaho96 the most action it gets is when I have to drive from West to SE VIC to meet the fam. Even then, it;s on highway cruising speeds
    • don't know anyone in this thread, but i just found it, read the entire thing in a few hours, realized greg is still posting progress, and just have to say, this is awesome. it looks awesome. 100% right about the Uras kit making it a pain to get on hoists...have the same kit on my 34 and it takes six 2x4s and race ramps to do it without taking parts off. this reminds me exactly of this thread. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/r63-amg-the-unicorn-of-my-destruction/110824/page8/
    • The only way to make that better is to weld on some bozozoku tips up past window height and roll with the cool kids.
    • I'd want an even MORE side on view. More or less you want to make sure the outlet is actually square with the outermost part of the bumper. Or you end up getting soot all over your bumper from your hektik exhaust. In any case, it looks pretty close. I think the way to fix this is probably more of an overhaul at an exhaust specialty shop if you want tips that are rounded off or sit nicely with the bumper but have proper clearance and don't move - Probably more of a redesign than a quick fix. I've pencilled in my own exhaust with its own various problems, pinholes, PITA fitment, and other issues and can see myself going to a shop and saying "JUST DO THIS BUT BETTER?"  Which is gonna work better than any more small fixes. I'm gonna chime in here officially with "from an outsider perspective this exhaust looks fine so this is self OCD probably" (which I also suffer from)
