never EVER seen a job card at any workshops.

Just run in tune man.

Nothing else.

I paid Gavin Wood 11ty billion dollars to get everything else sorted.

Can't help but think something is deliberately causing the delay now

Always put everything on job card including their quote prices and cross out any terms you don't agree to - that way you can rely on false and misleading representation provisions in the Competition & Consumer Act.

How come you didn't get Gavin to tune it? Doesn't he have a dyno anymore?

6+ weeks for a run in tune is BS.

yep. He doesn't have a dyno anymore and hires Hi-Torque Performance dyno and he does not have any experience in tuning Haltech ECU

Shame. Always good to let the builder to do the tune :(

Hopefully it all turns out ok in the end.

Out of interest, how much are you expecting this 'run in tune' to cost?

Yeah, I know this but Gav took fkn ages to complete the work and again he is not proficient in tuning Hatlech ECU's.

Better not be out of this world expensive I tell ya.

Never had to pay more than $700-$800 for tuning before

I am expecting about the same with additional costs for fuel, filter + oil change and whatever the cost is for fixing the elusive Hatlech ECU problem.

Call him and speak to him. Better getting the info from him rather than speculating on what the hold up is.

That shit can be very damaging to a company when all this back and forth is going on and nobody finds out what the real problem was. Speculation gets out of control and then the rumours start. We should be helping our sponsors get away from that.

My car was tuned there and I had the same issue. They're very difficult to get any communication going on and the only time they initiated it with me it was to tell me it was done. If you want to know all the in between details then you have to pester them relentlessly and they will get pissy at you for it I guarantee it but I havent heard of any shops that are different. That is the reality that we have to deal with.

If it was anything serious they would have callef by now. They have nothing to gain from not telling you.

Just trying to play devils advocate here. EFI are a sponsor and we should be giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Dude....................although I would welcome such a practice being adopted throughout the industry, the bottom line is that these are performance workshops we are talking about and they unfortunately (for me) so far all have failed to demonstrate such customer serviceability.

Here is what I believe, they have a charge out rate just like you and I do - add that rate to hrs completed to the job and and then they add their profit margin on top of that, to ensure they are not operating at a loss.

That is how I think MAJORITY of them work.

This is certainly different to how you or I work. We have a budget and either you meet that budget or you don't and we have procedures in place should we think we cannot meet that budget.

Theses performance workshops have no such mentality and I think is a big weakness in their industry.

This is just my opinion.........................................I'm hoping to be proven wrong...............................but I doubt it.

Oh shit- that isn't good. Wait, wait... Yes it is Summit Racing here I come :)

EFI is a sponsor indeed............................hence I am playing my cards right.

I will speak to Sean tomorrow to get some clarity regarding the (lack) of progress on my car and why I am not been kept in the loop e.g. why my ECU was sent to Haltech for repair without my consent or knowledge.

Its so far not a good look either way.

I think you're right. The big problem is all the cash jobs and they don't account for hours or efficiency on each job. There are a couple of good ones, but you're right there is no rhyme or reason to how the client is charged.

I have an offshore powerboat and guy that was doing overhaul drives, wanted me to sign a blank job card. I wrote on that job card till my hand hurt and then negotiated the terms on the bottom of page. Later tried to charge me 20k. My response, who authorised the additional cost? Not me read the contract.

Give Haltech a call to make sure they did actually receive a computer to diagnose from him today.

exactly. It really makes u think how twice how they do business.........No such thing as good business ethics within this industry

    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
    • Pretty sure they run the same engine as the Q50 hybrid which specifies 95 RON.  I ran 98 in mine for a while, but it made no difference in performance or economy, so I have been using 95 for the last few years.  I have never hit 6.0L/100km, but have returned mid to high 6 on the highway.  Being a hybrid, fuel economy is a lot more dependant on how you drive it.  At 110km/h, mine never goes into EV mode on the highway, so returns closer to 7.5L/100. urban driving can return low 8s if you are careful or over 10 if you are a bit more enthusiastic on the throttle.
    • About a quarter of what you want to do. It's only R7R, not R&dismantle&replaceparts&reassemble&R. ? It is stock. I already told you, you will NOT have broken those. It's f**king 4th gear for Christ's sake. You just chipped the teeth off.
