How can I open my boot, on my 1996 GTS skyline.

Should I see a locksmith / panel beater / mechanic or is there a simple way to attend to this?

My son was playing around with the boot mechanism and he pushed something into the down position.

Now I can not open the boot from inside the cabin.

It seems the cable has somehow been disengaged, when I pull on the lever as there is no resistance .

The key hasn't opened the boot for many years so I just open it from inside the cabin. I think the lock was replaced many years back and no key came with it. It has opened flawlessly from inside the cabin.

What are my options for fixing this. All my tools are in the boot. :verymad: :verymad: :verymad: :verymad: . Of course so is my spare Tyre.

thanks in advance

Just take out your backseat?

There will be a hole you can climb through to gain boot access.......and then you'll be able to sort out the problem.

But the mechanism which was pushed down needs to be moved into the up position. With the boot engaged in the locked position can I actually access that lever. I think the tongue from the boot lid prevents me from accessing it ?

Doesn't work in a 33 unless you can also shrink yourself.

I'd try with the key and see what that does. Or even try the key and the lever at the same time

Back seats taken out (see photo attachment), but its impossible to access due to opening size, rear battery on right and compartment location on left along with significant electrical wiring which would have to be disconnected.

Turns out the barrel did belong to the ignition key and a prolonged deep spray ,with a thin tube inserted ,of wd 40 eventually allowed the key to open the boot, though its not reliable, even after having sprayed. Reversed the boot switch and now will open only from inside the cabin .

Thanks all

Is the key or the key barrel tired? If its the key then Suggest you get the key code and get another key cut or you could be doing this all over again
