Hi SAUers, SAU at a National level have decided to have a 'give blood' drive. This will be a chance for you to give something back - 1 in 3 people need blood in their lives, and I think we have a responsibility to give blood as (generally) young, healthy individuals, who care about others :)

Obviously there are some limitations with people who have had tattoos within the last 6 months, have lived for more than 6 months in the UK, and various other things which can make one ineligible, but even if you can't give, come along say hi, and support the cause.

So, the format is, we all rock up at Regent Arcade in the the city at 9:30am Sat 26th Oct and do it as a group. I have booked us in as a group under the banner of Skylines Australia, and this will be a bit of a National competition to see which state is the best and can get the most donors on board.

If you haven't given blood before, don't panic - it really is easy and mostly painless except for a tiny pinch.

The upside is that you get free food and drinks at the Blood Bank (there is always a wide variety of things there like professionally made sandwiches, chocolate bars, biscuits, iced coffee, soft drinks etc etc).

Also, if you park in the Hungry Jacks carpark, you get your ticket stamped by the blood bank and your parking is FREE!

So, who is in? Get behind this guys, and give something back to the community. You just never know whose life you may save. SAU Qld have already started giving last year:

The SAU:SA Club will also be heavily promoting this among our paid members, so hopefully between the Club and the public forums we can get some great numbers!

So, seriously, 135 views and 3 confirmed attendees? Cmon people - I am amazed people are so selfish. What if it was your Mum that needed blood and she died because there was none? Or your girlfriend, or best mate? They are so low on blood, this seriously could happen.

I would put myself up but recently coming back from overseas and other circumstances do not allow for this. This is a good cause and people should definitely get behind this drive.

Would donate but its been only 4 weeks since I donated for the Navys inter-ADF competition and Redcross make you wait 3 months.

That aside, if anyone hasn't donated before, give it a shot. Its 30 minutes of your time and can save a life.

C'mon guys. You can't let QLD, nsw or vic have more donors can you?

Doesn't matter how many donors each state gets, just that the more people the club gets the better

But don't feel bad if NSW gets more :D

It's a competition. It's always a competition. :P

Nah, seriously it's a great cause! Also, I think we're ahead of the nsw guys. ;)

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, sadly since I have not had any further volunteers, I am going to cancel this event :( ... just spoke to the blood service now. Hopefully Lurch, and Tony's bro (and his friend) will go give blood somewhere on their own, so at least the whole thing wasn't in vain!

Well, the thing is that I give blood regularly and have actually been matched up with an individual that has cancer - so I normally give 3 months to the day, which is later this week. My blood is then couriered to their hospital and it is given to them as part of their treatment. So by giving Saturday week with an SAU group, I am actually letting that cancer patient down (somewhat). We have a perfect blood type match, and we also match to a closer level with various components of what makes up blood. It is quite a rare thing. Plus my wife is away interstate for the weekend, so I am home with my 5 year old and 2 year old - so it was going to be a pain in the butt to either bring them or find a babysitter.

So if we only have a few people (who hopefully are likely to just go and give blood from this point forward, as it is a good thing to do), then it is not worth me letting down my blood match and having to deal with what to do with the kids. For a decent sized group I was willing to make the sacrifice, but given the sad response out of literally thousands of SAU forum members in SA, and nearly 100 SAU:SA club members, to be honest I am more than a bit disheartened.

Either way, I have now cancelled our booking so as to not waste the blood banks time (Saturday morning spots are prime time for them, so better they book in others who will use the spots).

But if anyone is keen on donating and is a bit concerned about going for their first time, I am more than happy for people to come along when I donate. I can advise of when that will be if anyone wants to know. I normally go to Pelican Plaza at Ridgehaven fyi.

    • No. The ECU's hose is for a connetcion between the plenum (assuming single throttle body, not ITBs) and the ECU's internal MAP sensor. This is the primary load measurement of the ECU - so you need to get this one right. This has NOTHING to do with the boost contol. The wastegate also needs to see a boost signal - but it is actually far better for it NOT TO COME FROM THE PLENUM (again, assuming single TB, and not ITBs). This should come from the turbo's compressor housing (assuming there is a nipple on there, which there might well not be), or on the boost pipe somewhere between the turbo and the TB. On the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler is usually most convenient. The boost controller is then located between that boost source and the wastegate, ACCORDING TO THE CORRECT PLUMBING DRAWING FOR THAT BOOST CONTROLLER. There is no general diagram or instruction that will be correct for every case. Then the other ports on the plenum are for purposes such as Duncan described. If the boost controller has an internal MAP sensor, for a boost display, etc, then it will want to be hooked up there, alongside the ECU and the FPR.
    • Ok gotcha, so one post to fpr  another to bov  and I have the mishimoto boost controller and a link g4+ so I’d just have the tuner set it up properly. For the last two from plenum post throttle to  ecu/ boost controller, I know that I have a hose coming from the ecu that I was confused about so I assume that’s what connect to the boost controller from the ecu? And then the last is just from plenum to boost controller then to wastegate?
    • From there, it was just a quick electrical check, prime the oil and start her up Which, is not what happened. 1. Bloody seppo Aeropro battery holder. Not only was it too tall for the battery (which I'll forgive them for, I have another battery the same nominal size that is taller than Neil's one, but the bracket is a fixed height so the battery was spaced up) But the thing that really shits me is the hardware to hold it on requires a 7/32 Hex key. WTF. No-one will ever be able to remove or install the damn thing without a hex key they don't own 2. Kill switch no longer worked once the console was installed. Neil mentioned above he had to adjust the length but it no longer cleared the console once installed. Sorted. 3. Suspiciously, the brake light holders were hanging in the boot with no globes. Sure enough the stopper on the brake pedal was missing so they are always on unless the kill switch is activated. Will pick one up tomorrow (turns out 32 and 33 don't use the same stopper) 4. All that sorted, I turned on the kill switch, turned the key to ACC. Nothing. Turned it to IGN. Nothing. Checked some fuses and found the main IGN in the boot was missing which improved things once it was replaced. Now ECU and dash lights turn on with IGN but still no fuel pump. 5. Turned it to Start....ECU on, no fuel pump, no starter. Plus the voltage dropped straight to 9v.  I suspect the starter is f**ked but am going to have to work through it all and see what is happening, really looks like more than one issue. Does anyone have the R33 fuse box key with the circuit it sources from (eg BAT, ACC, IGN, SRT etc) and supplies? I can find a translated list showing Amps and circuit without supply circuit, and I can find supply circuit without Amps and target circuit.
    • 3rd time lucky, the AAC is now all plumbed up after getting some final fittings All set up under the plenum of maximum access
