Do I Need A New Starter Motor ? R32 Gtr

Hello,

I have taken my car to the mechainc and he has told me that I require a new starter motor, before I go and purchase one I would like to double check that his judgement is right, when my car does start, there is a grinding that occurs after the car has been started, which very much sounds like the starter motor, the issue is my car doesn't always start, Usually after charging the battery it will start but some times it won't start, I then leave it for an hour or two sitting there and it will just start(not on charge either) ??, I changed the battery and the problem still exists, the problem can still occur even after the car has been running for a while, its very tempremental. My mechanic thinks the start motor is "lazy" and doesn't return or something, thats why after a few hours of leaving the car it will start ???

I had the same problem on my gtst starter motor

I installed a relay going to the sm

No problem since then

As for the starter not returning - that will be the sm itself
