Gauges Mounted In Dash Illegal?

I have mounted 4 apexi ones in the dash where some cars have front passenger airbag. My concern is a cop will tell me that its illegal because the passenger could hit them in a crash but I can't find any info

as someone has already stated.

if it is mounted low, you will be ok. if you mount it high. you will attract attention.

Ive got a gauge mounted on the dash to the right of the steering wheel, and I have been pulled over and no mention has ever been made about that.
