  • 4 weeks later...

My name is Michael and i drive a '93 sliver R32 GTSt 4 door.

the car is stock as a rock atm except for a SPL chip for the computer, a r33 turbo and RS-R suspention.

My best time on the 1/4 mile atm is 14.899 @ 152.24kph

I live in enoggera with 51jay who is lucky enough to be my dad! :)

i work at www.umart.com.au as the RA manager mon-sat.

i am 21 years old

future plans for the car r going to be split into 2 phases...

Phase 1: 3" mandrel bent zorst with a nice big dump pipe

duel stage boost controller, probably a turbosmart unit

plumb back BOV (but only if the stock one leaks)

HKS front mount intercooler (which came with the car but isn't on atm)

I'm hoping for about 230rwhp @ 1.3bar after phase 1

Phase 2: GT25 turbo upgrade with custom adapter plate and fabricated lines

larger injectors and 500hp fuel pump

AFM from a 300zx

I've been told to expect 450hp @ flywheel running 25psi from this upgrade, this would be good for a 12s 1/4 which would then in turn qualify me for the super sedan bracket at willow bank raceway. I can then race in a profestional year long competiton which is the my ultimate goal.

I'm not all that interested in riceing the car up too much, it'll probably look the same as it does now even after phase 2. It'll be a few years before Phase 2 can be completed and i hope the super sedan brachet will still be around by then.

I will however be putting a nice PHAT stereo in as i love my music and like nothing more than to listen to it through a good quality system with nice bass :)

MicK's R32

heres some pics of my car, the last pic shows the HKS i/c when it was on. The wheels on the car in those pics r my dads and don't quite fit under the guards at the back, i need to roll the lip up on the inside of the panel. The car came with a set of Blitz 16" racing wheels which r on it atm. They look nice but just don't have the grip i need ;)

WHOA!!! Time for an update I feel!

Ok I am still Squizz :)

However the R32 left me the cheating whore, and ran off to a new owner leaving me with nothing but cold hard cash to spend on a bright red 1.8L manual 180SX.

However it was a fleeting romance, as she too left me, but not before taking a lovely Garret turbo and a shiny front mount, oh they tease and tease then leave you with nothing...:)

Which brings us to the present, my new flame, my mistress, my bad ass black 2.0L 180SX. With her short skirts, and update bar, yeah shes been around, but age adds experience ;)

And is she stock? Well ask me and I'll say yes, but look closer and you'll see I'm a terrible liar...

1991 2.0L 180SX

Black, 5 speed

Trust Front Mount

Trust/Greddy T518Z Turbine

Trust Turbo Manifold

Trust Dump pipe

Trust Front Pipe

Monsta Muffler Cat back and Canon Muffler

HKS Camshafts

Nismo Fuel Pressure Regulator

Upgraded Injectors

GTR Fuel Pump

Brake Cylinder Flex Stopper

Garage Original Tuned ECU

Blitz Airfilter

Greddy/Blitz/K's Gauges

Nardi Wheel

Razo Pedals

TEIN RA Coilovers

5 Stud/4 Piston Front Brake Caliper upgrade

17" Blitz Front Rims

Safety 21 4-point rollcage

Recaro Drivers seat

No dyno runs yet as the Blitz boost controller was stolen on the docks so for the time being a turbosmart controller will be fitted along with a Blow-Off Valve of some description.

    • So the clockspring is responsible for the indicators cancelling on their own? I thought that was the function of that green thing in the center (any idea what it's called?)
    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
