Howdy,

Currently putting a rb25det neo into my S15 since the clutch blew in the sr20 setup and made a maassssive mess. Always wanted a RB Silvia so it was the perfect opportunity.

I'm not new to Nissans but havent had an RB before.

Wanted to get some advice and stuff I should be attending to before the motor goes in properly.

The motor has ~80,000kms, was from an automatic 4 door and has never been modded :)

Going to be running a precision 6266 on mxp twin scroll manifold w/ e85.

So far on my list.

Full gates timing kit

Metal headgasket

Intake+exh gaskets i.e. the obvious ones

ARP Head Studs

Nissan Water & Oil Pump (Should I go N1 or standard items?)****

Extra oil drain/breather, using pretapped plug under ex manifold to sump. (I've heard the Neo's have proper oil restrictors in them, true?)

Im running a Greddy relocation kit w thermostat and 13 row cooler. I plan to use a RB30 oil filter stud so I can ditch stock water/oil cooler/heater, any dramas doing this?

Any help/suggestions much appreciated

woah man slow down have you thought about fueling yet? personally I wouldn't bother pulling the head off or changing the manifold gaskets if you know the engine has only done an easy 80k.

also why the 6266 and why e85? just curious as to how you came to this decision

sounds like a good project, I have 2 brand new engine mounts that will fit the swap if you need some. I accidentally bought the wrong ones for my r33

Going for some id2000 injectors, walbro 400lph e85 model. Some people say I need a fpr, some dont.

I can't tell 100% about the kms as I bought the motor from a private seller. I would rather fix it up while it's out. Do it once do it right

E85 as it's a weekend car and the benefits are too good to pass. 6266 0.84, been speaking to workshops, distributors etc all been suggested as a solid match for the rb25.

Mounts are sorted. Used r32 gear w/nismo mounts pretty much all bolts in

Neos have an N1 oil pump already. So no need to change that unless you're going to go for a build up. No need for N1 water pump unless you're going to spend time whizzing it around on the circuit at high revs a lot.

Keep the oil/water heat exchanger. Makes the engine warm up faster and smooths out heat events between the oil and water when you're up it. As long as the engine has had a reasonable service history, there's no reason why it should crap itself.

Look at all the hoses under the plenum and around the heater plumbing. Replace as needed. Replace thermostat with new Nissan one. Do NOT stuff about with cold Nismo thermostats.

Make sure you get a new spigot bearing for the clutch.

Clean out the coolant passage in the IAC valve. Clean out the IAC valve for that matter (with carby cleaner).

What are you doing about management?

ID1000's will be fine, you can make around 500rwkw on e85 with them which is more than a factory rb25 can do anyway. you have 6 injectors now not 4

ID1000s would not be sensible for 500wkw, it might be possible to hit it but you'd have to be leaning on it imho

Always had a soft spot for rbs. Eargasm, I just like turbos haa. More exciting to drive imo.

I Know plenty of people running id2000s, no dramas at all

I'd like to go mafless but can't justify the extra cash atm. got the z32 for favours and have a spare nistune board anyway
