Hello all Queensland Skyliners, My name is Clint. I have not used these forums for a very very long time, in fact it's almost been a good 10 years since I have been active at all in the Skyline Circle. 10 years ago I swapped my R33 GTS25 (Ref: Avatar, Yep Non Turbo, I was still young back then) for a 200sx (which I still own today). When I was 17 I had always dreamed of Owning a GTR, in particular the R33 (because I am one of those people that loves the R33). I do dream of one day having one of each though ;) I took the leap and added to my garage a very very pristine example of an R33 GTR.

I had desires of owning a mostly unmolested GTR and I was lucky enough to find this genuine gem in a sea of thrashed out clappers. The plans are just to enjoy it as is rather than spend more than I earn on it (other than possibly a Full Exhaust System and Number plates that I already own). My other pride is my Drift/ Circuit Silvia - A continuous work in progress (keep changing my mind on what direction to take with it)

I'm a semi active member of the BMW club Qld as well due to co-driving an E30 race car with my dad

I can't discount my Daily Drive Hyundai Accent either, possibly the best car one could ever own for it's Fuel Economy and overall cheapness to maintain. Anyways How often does the Qld Chapter have Meetups and any circuit outings or Brekky Laps coming up etc?

Thanks :)

We are hoping to have a very rough calendar of events for next year up soon as well. Just keep an eye on the events section for any events coming up, the next event is our monthly meet this Wednesday and we are also having a brekky happy laps on the 27th.

Welcome back Clint :)

Always love hearing other peoples stories, these cars really are a way of life.

We're all here because we have a passion for these majestic cars.

I, like many others here dreamt of owning a Skyline one day.

I'm from country Victoria so the only thing I ever saw was beaten up Commos & Falcons.

The first Skyline I ever saw was on a day trip to Melbourne when I was about 10 (circa 1998) right on dusk

A beautiful black 33 went floating by chirping away like a little bird with those beautiful red hot plates. Instant love, I knew I wanted one, one day.

I asked my Mum what it was but she had no idea.

A Lebanese man had over heard my question and was more than happy to explain in great detail what it was, what the sounds were and how to get one.

I still love 33's because they are to me the 'classic' Skyline and what I'd draw a picture if asked what a Skyline is.

Welcome back Clint!

Great to hear that you managed to jump into a car that you've lusted after for so long.

We actually have a jam packed events calendar for 2014 which will be released at our monthly members meet - which is this Wednesday.

Look forward to seeing you out at a few events.

Cheers,

Tony.

    • don't know anyone in this thread, but i just found it, read the entire thing in a few hours, realized greg is still posting progress, and just have to say, this is awesome. it looks awesome. 100% right about the Uras kit making it a pain to get on hoists...have the same kit on my 34 and it takes six 2x4s and race ramps to do it without taking parts off. this reminds me exactly of this thread. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/r63-amg-the-unicorn-of-my-destruction/110824/page8/
    • The only way to make that better is to weld on some bozozoku tips up past window height and roll with the cool kids.
    • I'd want an even MORE side on view. More or less you want to make sure the outlet is actually square with the outermost part of the bumper. Or you end up getting soot all over your bumper from your hektik exhaust. In any case, it looks pretty close. I think the way to fix this is probably more of an overhaul at an exhaust specialty shop if you want tips that are rounded off or sit nicely with the bumper but have proper clearance and don't move - Probably more of a redesign than a quick fix. I've pencilled in my own exhaust with its own various problems, pinholes, PITA fitment, and other issues and can see myself going to a shop and saying "JUST DO THIS BUT BETTER?"  Which is gonna work better than any more small fixes. I'm gonna chime in here officially with "from an outsider perspective this exhaust looks fine so this is self OCD probably" (which I also suffer from)
    • Reminds me I really need to install that HKS oil cooler I bought years ago.
    • It be 40°C outside lately. 10W60 is a good idea here. Well, certainly 10W50.
