everyones going to be selling their gtst's now and hopping on the 300zx E85run... :)

Its a good compromise if you cant afford a GTR or to build a rb3025

Hahaha i hope not! To be honest if the Z32 came in an AWD model i would never even consider a GTR of any sort. However i had the choice between skyline and 300ZX, drove both, made my choice.

5 years I have been running mine daily on ethanol, you must be a pansy Paul. :P

Yep. ;)

Not trying to go to far of topic here but have you found the united e85 to be consistent? I know someone was telling me there can be big jumps in octane at times.

There is, it's called the Mitsubishi GTO

;)

now there is a big, heavy piece of work that suffers very horribly with the age most of them have under the belt now...

Gorgeous IMO and otherwise massive potential. but the challenges of getting it there are too great...

I wonder how the 300zx would go with a couple of GT3076's, maybe just the CHRA's inside the stock housings, probably a laggy combo for a street 300-400kw but the sound of them would be amazing ... ill keep dreaming :)

The 300zx has an incredible chassis, especially with regard to high speed stability, not to mention the motor is extremely capable.

The JUN/Blitz 300zx set the record in Bonneville in E/BMS class in 1991 at 419kmh. Jun came back with the Supra RZ and only managed 401kmh....

Was also several peoples car of choice in the Mid Night Club in Japan for high speed Wangan runs...

A much more capable car than a GTS-T.

^^ uneven comparison

iv got to say much of this thread has been this.

For basic get it up to good working order and bolt-on-and-go-ease (and cost), the GTST murders the ZX.

Of course you get stuck into it and you have a 3L twin turbo motor which will always hold some good aces based on that.

Most of the notable examples put down here of the ZX (and that iv ever seen) are built versions with the full monty thrown at them. And when they have noted the $$ tag it took to get there, it is eye watering.

Just to answer your desire for a loud turbo whistle.

The only turbo smaller than a GT3076R / similar GT30 turbo with the anti surge housing is the HKS GT-RS.

The HKS GT-RS is basically a Garrett GT2871R done up by HKS. Has a similar designed anti surge compressor like the gt3076r and makes the same sound, albeit probably a bit quieter. Youde be paying up the hill for two of them though.

I recently sold mine. Stock as a rock apart from a cat back. My sister has an r33 gtst also stock with just a cat back. Both 5 speed. My Z was a hell of a lot faster. My brothers Z was even faster than mine and his was auto but had full exhaust and big front mount. Bloody awesome cars. I loved the seating position it was like a little jet.

I had to sell it as the interior and exterior was just shit and would of cost me a fortune to fix it all. Parts are expensive for them but to buy one whole is cheaper than most Silvia's. I'd love to own another one some day.

Also should you get a z32, CZP is your 'go to' online store for literally everything you need.

edit: actually thats the gtx's but you get my point

Some things to look out for.

Cracked control pods/functionality

A/C vents not blowing where they are supposed to (I was never able to determine why mine were stuffed)

Lifted dash

Leaky or bypassed heater core

Bonnet slightly raised due to someone jacking car up by rad support (happens more on the Z's for some reason

Spoiler all spongy or cracked

Torn carpet on drivers

HICAS playing up

Cracked window cal

Drivers side chair torn

Electric seats playing up

Leaky targa tops (make sure it has the shades)

Just some of the things from the top of my head and reason why I had to get rid of mine, was going to cost me to much to repair.

These cars are pretty cheap to buy these days so you should be able to find a mint example for under 8k even. Jump on the http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/ to get a better idea on what they are worth.

keep us posted on the character, mods, output and $. Be good to hear about from an RB guy... :)

yeah will do, should be happening in the next couple of months, will have it put on the same dyno too for direct comparison to the RB with GTX3076 on ethanol.

Hopefully it will sound as good as the rb, its hard to beat the sound of a GT3076 at full boost on an RB25.. but we'll see...

    • Hey guys, so Golebys has good prices on Bosch injectors, and also sell an adaptor to go from 1/2 length injector to standard with the Nissan 10.5mm top seal.  Does anyone know if that adaptor is to suit the 14mm or 11mm injector tops?  And re. The bottom seal, to suit my standard RB20 intake, would I be right in saying I can just slip the 14mm square section O ring over the bottom of the new injector and done? Thanks in advance guy, Cheers, Rowdy
    • F my life. I was changing the oil on my R32 GTR today as usual and ran into a bit of a snag. I drained the oil out and was getting ready to finish the job by tightening the drain plug, however The stupid magnetic oil drain plug snapped in half, right at the magnet part. After about an hour of trying to remove it, I used a drill bit, which unfortunately pushed the magnet all the way into the pan, and just leaving the hollow threaded part of the bolt remaining. I was able to remove the hollow portion of the bolt from the oil pan with some pliers but the magnet is still in there.  So, the question is, should I drop the oil pan to get the magnet piece out, or is it okay to leave it in there? I really dont want to drop the pan, i'm about to go nuts.  PSA: Do NOT buy a BLOX magnetic drain plug. This is the one i had.    https://bloxracing.com/products/magnetic-oil-drain-plug-m12x1-25mm?variant=37131252859052&country=US&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw47i_BhBTEiwAaJfPpgti1D2JwO7TDuMpXuqeQPCuIQSAfwxpWQH5rF9MD7sm5SCZDWLR_RoC_YoQAvD_BwE
