women come and go, but a GTR is forever.

your GTR wont leave you for another GTR.

you can thrash the crap out of your GTR and it wont put an AVO against you.

You know whats wrong with the GTR and can fix it for money

you can treat your GTR like crap and it will keep coming back for more

there are so many Gtst's that they are becoming as common as taxies :)

looks like the i's have it

Common as taxi's is a bit overboard. Its just I think that we notice all the skylines but just ignore most other cars. R33's are the most common of the 32-34 though I think because they meet that nice price to age ratio.

well, from yr case, u better keep yr GTS-t. Cheuk out for sale section, PLENTY of member sell their GTR for a house.

Sure u get what u pay, a GTR is a "super car", so as the maintance. Heavier, more power - prepare to pay more on tyres, petrol.

and basicly every stuff/ parts.

similar as the potenial, VERY responsive to mod makes u can't control yrself.

very addictive car.

So after 1,2 year and u spend 10-20g on it, yr might have to sell it coz u need a wife and a house.

it's wiser to keep yr car and get a R33 or even R34GTR later on. But then it's yr choice.

i can get a GTR but decid to get a s15, simply becoz i don't think i can control myself spending ALL my money on GTR.

From the number of people snapping up 89 gtr's they are gonna be the new taxis!!

And a GTR is not a supercar, (we have had this discussion before), also a supercar doesent cost 20g even if it 15 years old. I had the same thinking last year and you would have to spend alot of top of the initial price to bring a 15 year old car upto the same condition as your current car.

It is a GTR but remember its 15 years old and would have had a trashing for most of those 15 years!!!

for an 89 it will cost between 18 and 22 for a good one.

personally i would only buy a 89 car if it has had a complete engine change from a newer model, or rebuild. like a rb25 in cefiro, but would only pay 10-12 for it. otherwise it has a better chance of dying quickly and rebuilding a rb26 is not nice on the back pocket.

stick with the 33. even though i prefer the look of 32s

just compare it to 89 falcons or commodores in aus. not too many of them are in nice condition.

exactly!! dont get cought up in the hype of buying a the car just because it is a GTR because it is still a 15 year old car like a EA falcon or VN commodore. Any 15 year old car be it a commodore or porsche or gtr is goona have 15 year old problems unless the engine and other things have been rebuilt or restored.

I am listening guys.. Yes it is like getting caught up in the hype kind of like an addiction or habit the excitement of getting a new toy.

At the same time I dont think a EA falcon or VN commo has the same level of build quality as an 89 Nissan. I mean I still see R31's that look dam good for their age.

Yes different to a GTR not a track beast much less chance of a flogging absolutely. But, amongst the craped out examples on Prestige their are good ones perhaps 1 in 4 or so seem pretty reasonable with genuin low km's. Thats wot I would get. Something with a motor that has a good chance of still running good compression. Grandads GTR (lol prob don't exist). If i do it I will be very patient and wait for the right one.

Out of curiousity how much is a rebuild for RB26DETT and how much is a new engine?

I have owned a 81 falcon, 76 escort, 79 commo and 87 commo. I know old cars and their probs although I realise a GTR will be much more $ to fix.

Really depends what you want to use the car for.

If your plans are to use the car as second car and use at the track quite a bit then I would grab the GTR, do the usual mods and thrash it. :D

BUT if its a daily driver then stick with the R33, nice turbo, exhaust, fmic, ebc + 1bar wastegate, powerfc, thicker headgasket, injectors, fuel pump and you can have your 250-300rwkw reliable RB25DET.

if you really want gtr, then look locally. i think you will be suprised what you can get for your budget. i think there is a 94 32gtr on here for 25500 or something.

dont bother with a 89. plus its really annoying that people buy a 89 for around 20 then try to sell it straight away for over 30.

Don't forget that the cars you see on the mailing list aren't the only cars available.

When I was looking at the 300ZX's I got added to the 300ZXTT list and I was getting around 20 cars per day rathr than 1 every 2-3 days. They ranged from $6k-$20k instead of the normal $9k, so their is plenty more to choose from.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365.
