Also this turbo is brand new all fittings an it a replacement for an 01 WRX apparently from what I could find??

I know folk put TD05's on Skylines. Check the forced induction thread.

Suppose it would depend on the rear housing, flange and inlet pipes on your 33.

What about the BOV would that somehow replace the stock one I'm using an is there any point, I can't see a brand NMR on it but it's in new condition.

Also could I canablize the turbo actuator for mine or best to just sell it to a WRX owner.

There is No need for you to replace the stock BOV you already have.

Skylines use a Plumb back setup where the BOV releases the pressurized air back into the system via the BOV return pipe which lets the air return back into the intake pipe, between the Airflow Meter and the turbo where it will be used.

This air has been measured by the Airflow Meter which tells the ECU how much air and the ECU then allows a suitable amount of Fuel to go with it.

The BOV you ask about, is an Atmospheric BOV, meaning that it will release the Air outside of the Engine.

Doing this, the ECU will have allocated so much fuel to match the measured air, but that air will no longer be in the system so there will be too much fuel. This is notorious for causing the engine to stall in Gearchange and clutch in situations.

If you get an ECU that runs a Manifold Pressure Sensor instead of an Airflow Meter, it won't be a problem and you can use any old BOV you like.

Other downsides to an Atmo BOV is they draw unwanted attention from the Police as they create excessive noise and also the fact that oily vapours are being released into the air instead of being burnt off in the engine.

That and the Tosser/ Wank Factor.

Sell it and use the Funds for stuff you need. :yes:

Those wide rims that come with the car aren't that bad the spokes are grey enamel an look ok with a bit of shine not to much rash, still have not idea how to clean under the car steering rack etc it's to low at the front to get up on ramps, anyone know a trick.

Just a quick stupid question as I'm still waiting on my workshop manual,

Changing sparkplugs , are they under the splitfire coils? also I brought a set of Bosch P38-6

Yes. Undo the loom plug going to a coil, unbolt the 2 little bolts (on diagonal corners) of the coil. Pull the coil out. Sparkplug is there.

Platinum is overpriced and unnecessary and can actually have a weaker spark than coppers...

$30 for six NGK BKR6EYA Coppers or BCPR6ES Coppers.
These should be pregapped to 0.8mm. If you get them with 11 at the end, they are pregapped to 1.1mm.

The smaller the gap, the less likely the boosted air will extinguish the spark.

Most if not all of the answers to your questions ie. sparkplugs, BOVs etc are available in the Forced Induction, Tutorials / DIY / FAQ and General Maintenance sections as all these things have been asked and covered many times over...

I got these plugs from supercheap I got a 2000$ gift card from insurance when the house got robbed so I get what ever I need from there that's why I got em, but if experience says don't use em, I'll put them away as spares.

I just found a shit load of Victorian paperwork in the glovebox I couldn't open it before because of the gauges .

There are 2 Dyno tune workshop receipt for a tune saying

So I'm going to make some phone calls tomorrow an find out what's been done as when I brought it if this woman she didn't know anything much about it, she got it for money her ex owed her.

And everything's already there to get min 230+RWKW with a aftermarket ecu an a safe tune.

So ill shut up now, I'm happy it's a solid engine all the aftermarket stuff is there down to a 3in exhaust system.

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
