Hi Guys

Can anyone shed some like for me on the late 98 Series 2 RB25det Stagea RS-Four? Brought one being told it was a Neo. Picked it up started stripping it off to put it in my S13. The Cas is the Black plastic cas, the loom is the grey plug ecu. I thought it was a Neo from that, but further looking into it it had the side feed injectors, the 3 bolt IAC valve, the small TB. Which had me instantly suspicious about it being a Neo.

Looking around found 2 pictures of Late model RS4's with these motors. Does anyone else know anything more about them?

My guess is a Series 2 motor internally and intake and exhaust sides. But whats the deal with the ecu now? would i use the R34 GTT pinout for the grey plug ECU?

Just wanting to know this as i plan on hard wiring the motor to the battery via a switch and fuse panel.

Both the stagea's in the pictures are s1 stagea's so they have s2 rb25det not the neo model , s2 stages 98 onwards "the ones with the spot lights in the grill have neo engines , the s1 computer is untuneable unless you run a stand alone or piggy back system , you could change the cas and comp over to a neo one , then you could run nisstune , but I'd say ATM you've just got a s2 rb25det

sorry i must or worded myself wrong. i've worked out its a S2 rb25det from a S1 Stagea. Is it common for these to have a grey plug and not the normal blue plug like the R33 RB25det's? Do they share the auto trans ecu in there?

I'm not planning on tuning this motor any time soon, will be left as it is just in a track hack S13. I just want a ecu pin out i can figure out how im going to rewire the loom up to power and switches.

is this the pin out i want, from this post here, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/406866-ecu-tuning-for-s1-stagea-do-we-have-a-solution-yet/?p=6516626

Yes that will do it. if you are running it with a manual box you can always swap it for a plug in Link later.

Yes Link make plug in ecus for Nissans, evos, Toyotas etc. They also make a wire in version which can be adapted to almost anything. I have a G4 plug in (the R34 version to suit the Stagea plug since I have a manual conversion). I think the only mod necessary was a wire from the TPS to enable the Atessa ( I didn't install it - the tuner did).

Didn't think links where full plug in ???

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
