I've got one of those gated bleed valves.

I installed it today after taking it off to send the car in to get painted.

I get boost quick boost build and peak boost of approx 16psi when I first put my foot down. I change gears and boost is really sluggy and never makes any more than approx 6psi.

I did pull the bleeder apart to see what was inside, and fiddled yes fiddled :D

I pulled the spring out to make it hold a bit more tension.

Is it possible that now because of the higher spring tension the pressure between the ball and spring is holding the wastegate open when I select the next gear.. I.e there is still say 13+psi of boost between the ball and the wastegate actuator yet only 0psi between the ball and boost source?!?!

Friggin damn fiddler.. :D

Might chop the spring if all else fails.

i had the exact same prob with my bleed valve, they do all sorts of strange things!

originally mine wouldnt run anything below 15psi and if i had the adjustment knob wound all the way to the lowest setting it wouldnt close the wastegate actuator properly between shifts. making it feel super sluggish.

in the end i drilled the bleed hole out and resized the restrictor with a matched peice of brass.

bloody fiddley but fixed the problem.

Yep same problem with the turbo smart single stage controller, with the switch armed it would spike to 18psi sometimes, with it off it would spike about 15psi and hover around 13-14psi but then when I change gears while booting it boost would climb so slow and be sluggish,so I just left the switch on :)

R31 power.. the boost climb is extremely slow and sluggish, first time it happened I thought I blew threw a few bits of ceramic out the exhaust.

My guess is the boost is stuck between the ball and spring with no where to go, then slowly bleeds off.

0psi of boost on the turbo's side of the bleeder yet still 16 od psi on the wastegate side of the bleeder.

It boost to 16psi through every gear change if I change slowly. Its just no go if I change quick.

I've stuffed the bleeder lol.

It used to work fine until I decided to stretch the spring a little... Oh well.. have to do with my bodgy wastegate mod.

Mine has quite a large hole where the ball bearing sits preloaded with a spring holding it tight.. No small holes etc to drill out for me..

Timmaaayyy... It was screw drivers today. :)

The joys of cars. Was good to feel the extra 5psi of boost but. :)

Haven't driven the car for almost 2 months.

    • Hahahahah, look, your not wrong 馃槀馃槀 and thank you brother 馃檹馃徏 jokes aside, I haven't driven the car in 6+ years and it's like I'm starting all over again, and furthermore the car is wayyyy more powerful and it's characteristics are night and day different now compared to what I remember. So I'm slowly easing myself back into the groove, the car is literally scaring me a bit tbh.....it feels like it has 200hp more than it does on paper and responds like a cammed Ls v8, and-some! 馃槄 every single bit of throttle pedal travel and input has instant response all the way to the floor, zero flat spots or labouring feelings, it's nuts. • If the house has ever been sold before too, they have photos from that etc.
    • I used to do that, but then I got savvy. The benefits of having your phone photos geotagged outweigh the negatives. I just don't publish any photo straight off the phone/out of the gallery/off google photos, etc. If I'm going to use a photo, other than for SMSing to fam, I will always open it on the computer, copy it/otherwise edit it and save down without the original metadata, before using it. For example, posting photos of my engine bay into a thread on here, to show someone a plug or something - I will just screen-cap the section I want to use and paste that section direct from the clipboard into the post. No metadata goes along with.
