Click on LOCAL NEWS....... "BIG BANG , SMALL HAUL"  JULY 3rd

Haro

THOSE BASTARDS , wrecking a F#^&*ING Awsome car like that for a messley $4000 , the wheels would have been worth more that that :):):);):):D:)

those guys are pathetic...it sounds like you will only need a new window...

it didnt mention that the car was stolen in the story, but honestly, would you call the cops coz a car had a broken window? just sounds odd, not sus, just odd...

hope you get ur car back soon and they dont hold it 'for evidence' or anything...

The bandits, who escaped from the Westpac in busy Bundall Road in a stolen, flashy sports car, would be lucky if their haul totalled much more than $4000.

I missed it the first time I read it too... It was well hidden to give the masses another reason to whinge about hoons IMO...

I'm pretty sure the article was talking about the Westpac window being smashed, not the cars...

Our R32 GTR was stolen here is the original thread http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....1&t=40699&st=0&

SUCCESS - The car was the car used to hold up the westpac bank at bundall today , the thieves botched the bank robbery and took off in the GTR and dumped it close by.

Yes it was the same car as on the news , i will get a copy of the tape for you to download and have a look at the news story.

At present the car is in a police holding yard and can not be released until forensic testing has been done. I personally went to the holding yard and was totally denied any acces to even look at the car from a distance , but on channel 9 gold coast news it did show the plates and it was definately our car . On the news the car looked still in perfect condition from the outside (who knows if there is any damage yet) but the person at the holding yard told me that from what he saw the car still looked 100% .. (i hope so).. from the news it even looked like they had washed it.. lol

So as it stands we have not seen the car but we definately know this is the our car , but have not physically seen it ourselves to check the condition. The car should be ready for release on monday..

So there was 3 offenders of ethnic appearance and after having the car for a few weeks i say that they would have left thier fingerprints all over it and HOPEFULLY they are caught somewhere along the line , also being a bank robbery the cops will hopefully be taking the matter very seriously. but i have been told that if caught they are likely to get a $500 fine.. for the car theft.. (our legal system is encouraging car theft in my opinion ) , but hopefully spend some time in jail and get some hardcore anal pounding...

Im spewing one of us did not catch them first and inflict some serious injuries on these people . Through this whole ordeal we have had so much support from all of our brothers here at SA and we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Now you would think that we would have had a call from the police today saying "Your car has been found and used in a robbery". But it was a Gold Coast local who called us up who had seen a flyer we had handed out at frank st BP servo , He rang us and said "i have just seen your car on the back of a flatbed towtruck" so we rang the towies and they confirmed the car , (this is 3pm , the robbery was at opening time of the bank) and the car was dumped close to the bank in benowa or something. So its 6pm the cops still had not called so we went to the copshop to see what was going on , they did the enquiries and confirmed it.. how friggin slack is that???.. But Josh if you read this you will be rewarded for your effort mate well be in contact..cheers!!

Thanks again everyone , sorry for the long post but i will keep you updated with the news story so u can all have a look , if someone could host this vid file PM me!

    • I know mentally you're set on the ATS clutch but honestly I'm a big fan of the Nismo Super Coppermix Twin. It's much cheaper and in some ways I think it's a better design for a street/circuit car.
    • Just checked in first post and you should be able to bring it home November this year, right? I'm amazed you made it through four years of this. As hard as it feels now the rest will go by in a breeze in hindsight, I'm sure.
    • Realized I haven't been back here in a while. Still here, still alive, still waiting for the car.  I went back again the only time last year from Oct-Nov for R's Meeting and drove it around some more, including a few laps on Fuji Speedway(in the wet, sadly). The car still feels good, but have a couple small things to address. I've been getting more parts but have slowed down still, and most of the bigger purchases are now out of the way. I find myself getting impatient more and more when it comes to getting started on this project; it's quite hard for me not being able to really dive in and start making this car my own because it's halfway across the world. At times it doesn't even really feel like I own one of these. Haven't really been motivated or had the desire to document the last trip on here or social media for, well, reasons... but here's some pics...it's also still alive and well as you can see: I've narrowed down to the last large part purchases(anything over $2k) before the engine build to be: 1) Ohlins Road & Tracks 2) ATS Twin Carbon clutch 3) Endless BBK with some custom options and 4) Kansai Service carbon driveshaft I don't think the budget exists for all of these this year, but I'll try for one or two items I think. Though, every time I look at my spreadsheet I sigh, shake my head, and get depressed just that little bit more.  'til later.
    • It's a stunning location!  I've been to NZ twice but haven't made it to the North Island yet.  Definitely on the cards but the South Island is hard to tear yourself away from too... Looking forward to see what you can wring out of it once you can get it to hold together!  Be awesome to get a low 11 or even sneaking into the high 10's pass out of it.  That's a bloody quick car that most people will never experience in their life.  Enjoy!
    • Nominally yes but I’m not really at that stage yet. Outsourcing to Japan is also a relatively good deal at the moment because their currency has devalued much more against the USD.  You would assume this but a lot has changed from the pandemic. Mechanics are in short supply and demand for fixing old cars has gone up from the cost of new cars. 250-300 USD/hr is not an unusual shop labor rate in California and you’re paying that regardless of whether the guy is competent or not. Coworkers have been quoted 3000 USD for a water pump and thermostat at a dealer on an N54. Oil changes went from ~75 USD to 150 on fairly normal cars like Civics. The cost of the oil and filter hasn’t even kept up with inflation.
