Hey all

Im just after some advice.

Does anyone know the import taxes?

Im after a bonnet for my 33 gtr.

The total comes to around 1100.

I know you have to pay tax for over 1000 but is that the total of the item only or plus shipping?

As the bonnet by itself is around 800 and around 300 for shipping etc

Any problems with buying from the uk etc

Thanks

Im pretty sure its just value of the bonnet. Thats what import taxes cover for most countries. I sell alot of car parts to people in Aus from the UK myself and Ive never had anyone come back saying they had to pay tax or anything. They may have just paid it but in my experience alot of people are suprised and tend to message me once they receive the item to ask about import taxes.

if the value is more than AUD800, you will have to pay GST & custom/duty tax

they calculate the custom tax on the item value plus shipping cost, then they add GST on top

so if your item is $1100 in total, custom tax will be about 5% (it varies, pls double check) comes to $1155

then they will add 10% GST comes to a total of $1270.50

thats how i calculate the tax when i sent a container from overseas to here

best to ask the seller to declare the item value to less than $800

hope it helps
