Hello. I just wanna say hi to everyone, as this is my first post ! Happy to be on the board. I have this problem. I did a boost leak test and found that my 2 compressor housing were leaking all around, where it mate to the turbo core. Rs580 turbos. Is this normal? Is there a tolerance? I see everyone boosting 14 psi with the boost restrictor removed, and i only boost 10 psi without it... I was thinking that maybe this was caused by my boost leaks.

Nope, thats not normal. It is a zero tolerance affair, you will need to fix this.

If you plan to do any other work to the car I recommend you consider those options now. Removing the turbos is not a pleasant experience (or a cheap one if you are not able to do it yourself), so you should only plan to do this once.

Not to say that you will need to change the seals again and again but the RS580 turbos are fairly ordinary in the grand scheme and changing to a better pair will require a re-tune. However, by the seems you are running these at a fairly 'stock' level and I am concerned your car is currently untuned. That could also result in a fair amount of damage..

It sounds like you may have just opened Pandora's box :)

Thanks for your reply ! Yeah the car run a lil rich. And yeah i have this Veilside ecu which is NOT tuned for my car. Anyway we cant find any info on those VX-Rom chipped veilside Ecu.... I'd rather run a lil bit richer as it does right now, than lean. I do all the work myself on my car, and saw lotta thread about putting a very thin layer of RTV copper around the compressor, to seal the leak. It seem to work. I dont really understand Garrett on this one. Lotta turbo brand put a big o-ring to seal the compressor. Garrett does not... BUT if u buy a turbo rebuild kit, it comes with a o-ring for the compressor...

    • Fuel tank is out. Looks pretty bloody good under (ie above) the fuel tank.  Amazing how good the factory e-coat holds up in the hidden areas.  No where near as much body deadener to get rid of as the front but still not looking forward to it!  Shit of a job.  I'm thinking I might grab a needle scaler and give that a go before I attack it with the angle grinder and wire wheel which is how I did the front 2/3's of the car.  Feels good to be working on the car again but who knows how long it will last!  Hopefully I can get it further forward than where it was prior to this last block of work when I decided to go back 10 steps further down the rabbit hole from where i already was! The problem is, I'm realising how hard it will be to repair and paint the bumpers, which cannot be put back on the car, and have a good paint match. There are also areas where it would be VERY hard to hide the new paint where it transitions from old paint. Like this- There is only one way to do that perfectly and I really dont want to have to do what that means I would have to do... 🤦‍♂️
    • Pretty sure the factory assembly doesn't have any gasket at all, just RTV.
    • I will get a couple cans for sure thanks, I do have 2lt fish oil to spray around the car already.
    • Thought I’d post pics of the packages for those interested. The premium package is #16. Remote start, security with tilt sensor and remote and backup battery, auto fold mirrors and door illumination.    Can post up pics of all the factory options and images from the factory options brochure if people are interested. I have all the dealer books etc for all rv37 models.
