Very good point. Other than there legality I would question whether it would actually do anything, but would be interesting to find out?

I've seen similar braces in C34's (behind the rear seats?) but don't recall ever seeing anything similar in the M35. Do those style braces actually effect much in either model?

I have a rear strut brace which I figured would stiffen up the rear of the wagon. It is hard to know how one would measure its effectiveness but I feel it is probably more use than the front strut brace (which I run as well).

I think both front and rear strut braces can have a measurable effect on torsional chassis stiffness, as the struts have a major deflection moment under suspension compression. The location and design of this seat belt brace, on the other hand, looks pretty useless other than for bling.

I doubt that would have any major effect, if one side is pushing towards the other side of the car that bar will more likely just transfer it to the other side since there is no brace. a bar like a T would be more effective I would think

Yep, without triangulation; it's a waste of time.

A curtain rod could do the same job.

Exactly Dale, my idea was to make a cross brace in the back, from both rear seatbelt mounts to the floor on the other side, but I would loose too much cartage room.

At which point you may as well fit a roll cage and be done with it.
