Hi guys, my names pete and im new this is my first post. I recently bought a 96 r33 gtst. It Was running great until a few hours ago. I have decided to make it a dedicated track car. Im a sparky by trade and the first thing i decided to do was tidy all the harness inside the car. It was a real abortion , looks like some clown added every electrical accessory he could then just hacked it all out. In an effort to ensure reliability i decided to remove any obvious redundant after market wiring. I thought start out small, avoid disaster. Like at work i used my phone and took pictures of every thing before i started to ensure reconnection. However when i had finished i had a small brown plug left near the ignition barrel, wire colours are Orange, Black, Black / blue, Red / blue. Not for the life of me can i find where it goes. I checked my phone only to find the images were not stored as the memory card is full eerrrrr.......

I connect the battery and decide to see what doesn’t work , as soon as the key is inserted the beeper starts going off. I turn the key to accessories and i get no dash lights, no fuel pump prime, cant use indicators, beeper continues, I turn the key to start and the car cranks strongly but will not fire, still no indicators or dash light and the beeper continues, Its now obvious i have an immobilisation issue, which must be factory as the after market alarm was disconnected and i removed it. I have not disconnected any wires with the work i have done only disconnected a few plugs around the ignition barrel.

Does anyone know what the brown plug i referred to earlier is for? Could it be part of the immobiliser circuit. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance Pete

It seems the car has a missing Ignition circuit, so you won't have spark and more than likely fuel. If there was an old alarm then it would have had at least 1 immobiliser circuit. If the old alarm had coloured wiring (cheapy) then there is probably an immobiliser relay still wired in to the ignition circuit. To bypass the immobiliser you should have cut some wires and re-joined them back to factory. If you did not cut and solder any wires when removing the old alarm then it explains why it does not start. Look for an aftermarket relay and you should be right from there. 96 Models never had a factory immobiliser and as for the brown plug, it is quite common to have plugs under a dash which do not plug in to anything, chances are it was never plugged in to anything from the beginning, OR, spare plugs are sometimes used for optional extra options that were available for them at that time.

Cheers
