Hey fellas,

The rms has paid me a visit as part of there random audit and found that my car vin number and firewall numbers do not match. Speaking to the person I bought it from he claims under the old compliance laws this was common and is not a problem however the rms think otherwise and police are investing its origins they claim it's not stolen though . Has anyone had the same problem or know the exact compliance laws requiring the vin number having part of the firewall number in its 16 digit code ????

If this car was complied under the system the vin should read something like this "6T91MPV97......." It will not match the origional Chassis # on the firewall. It still should have been 17 digits so not sure what's going on there. Good Luck

Yep depending which place complied it..

Generally 6U9000 or 6T91...

Has it got the blue compliance plate? It should list the compliance company license/authorization number, which you should be able to get details off through the RMS and the compliance company should have records with the correct Japanese VIN etc..

^^This. Complied under the old system. Shouldn't be too hard to sort out.
