Sweet as, i figured the spacer isnt terribly priced so i may as well.

Good to know about the injectors, cheers!

The kits from the US do not work on our cars as it is in reverse. Which is fine, i just wanted to use their guide to get a guage on how much work is involved on fitting a kit and how much they actually upgrade when creating a kit.

As far as the air con goes, i will follow your advice, if it doesnt work i will take the other route :P

Ill keep an eye out on turbo's. As i said above, im not doing the kit yet but like anything i just want to get all the research i can, so thanks.

BTW - you missed out on a second hand complete HKS Z33 turbo kit that was for sale on Z club for $2100. It pays to keep your eyes out for the second hand market... ;)

Damn it! I have only just joined that forum! Some reasonable priced parts on there. Maybe ill scout for my coilovers on there

@Scotty - Nope, not planning on buying the Turbonetics kit. Just using their guide as a reference to see how much is involved with their kit.

2:35. That poor man needs to get a welder onto that diff asap! either that or an LSD.

Nice ride, i don't really like the Sedans but that one is quite clean. Sounds damn good too.

When you say it cost a lot to get 425bhp, he did use a sedan and the Supercharger route. Im not saying it is not expensive, as it definitely is. He did however go for the underpowered G chassis (261hp compared to 282hp stock). Supercharger kits in the US are outrageously priced. $8000 for a bolt on setup that will get you approx. 350whp.

By the looks of it he has quite a built engine also. How much did he pay for the polished pieces?! :D dat shine!

@PN-Mad. That is gold. :P hahahaha

So apart from Rods, pistons and potentially a cam and headwork, what else needs to be modded for a "built VQ35DE +T"?

Nope that's it really. The weak point is the rods. But if you were going to do it, along with above, you'd throw in some decent head gaskets and hardware to screw it down, maybe a HR oil pump which is supposedly better for higher rpm, and flow. Then there is all the gasket kits, water pump, bearings, machining, etc. You'd need the coolant modification, and a decent rad.

There is a guy in the states who also has a fairly modded sedan who polishes the parts. Nice guy. He has polished plenums and most V35 parts in stock. You should see the interior aswell. The car is nuts. Every ARC part they made for the VQ35DE is in that car.

+1

If you have the cash now, I've seen some built engines for sale $6000 to $7000.... kinda cheap. Probably a better option than building yourself.

In reply to the earlier comments. I am thinking of mounting the turbo in a forward position as it looks like the room is going to be VERY limited in the stock position.

I will look at getting the Manifold extended like this one: (not as high but further forward)

More like the positioning of this setup:

And then plumb the waste gate back into the exhaust like this:

Would there be any benefit in using 3inch IC piping instead of 2.5? as it looks like most of the Bolt up kits use 2.5 for convenience...

Cheers guys,

Andy

Now for the build. This is as far as i have got so far with the planning. Ive been way too busy over Xmas/NY to put $ into the Skyline haha.

Tune: NZEFI $800-$850

BOV: $50

Hoses/Fittings: ??

Fabrication for the manifold/pipes: ?? (A friend will be helping here)

So a rough estimate (not inc shipping costs) from the cost i have so far is: $2630 inc. tune

Obviously this price will blow out a bit as other parts/general costs will be added but it is not a bad start.

Edited by andy_cliff

Heh, expect it to blow out quite a bit.

I've estimated about 9k for everything and I've got 6k estimated left to spend. But I've over estimated on a few things.

I noticed you haven't put down a MAF? You going to use Uprev to tune?

Edited by M35woah

I contacted NZEFI (One of NZ's best tuners) and they said that with some of the newer model Nissans like the 350z, 350gt's they are able to tune them without an aftermarket computer.

I will be taking it in for a pre-tune consultation in regards to the ECU as obviously it isnt something you want to bugger around with.

NZEFI are NZ's main stockist for Link computers and i believe one of the dudes there is one of the producers from Link?

son of rajab! 9k?! Do you happen to have a list for your build by any chance?

Quote from the tuner:

"Hi Andy,
Thanks for your enquiry. With the later model Nissans having a CAN bus we typically stick with retuning the factory ECU rather than fitting an aftermarket ECU. This is especially the case for automatics. We haven't done a V35 350GT VQ35DE yet. We've have done several retunes on 350Zs with the factory ECU and like you say your car is essentially the 4 seater equivalent so I expect that it shouldn't be a problem. However, if you want us to be 100% sure that we can retune your factory ECU then you should bring your car in for us to check over before hand. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Walter Larason

I know you can tune the stock ECU... The people that do it are called "Uprev", which is being used by a lot of people to tune with.

I thought 9k would have been standard for any plus T. I've over estimated on somethings and I'm not concerned if it goes over.

I was asking more about MAF or are you going to run less than 5psi? I believe that is when the stock MAF maxes out.
