I drove my R34 GTT this morning and when i arrived home the car does not even turn off even after taking out the keys as the engine is still running, and to add more to the problem today is Sunday which i drove around finding a mechanic they are all closed.

My car is in the garage still bloody running after i took out the keys.

What can i do? please help!

The car turns off by itself when i leave it for 30 seconds cause thats when the alarm automatically turns on but from now on it is just like that when i take the key out, its auto, i will have it checked by a mechanic soon.

Yes i bought this car about 3 months ago, the previous owner said it is pretty much stock, not sure if this is useful to anyone but my alarm is from "Mangoose" it wasn't like this when i drove back and forth on a weekly basis from Sydney to Bathurst (2 and half hours drive) during my 3 month duration until just now.

Even if i just drive to my local Westfield which is approximately 10 minute drive, the car wouldn't shut off for at least 20-30 seconds.

Funny its just happening now all of a sudden.

Because whilst the car was on you pressed button III (picture of a siren) and enabled the stupid built in turbo timer. You can disable it by doing the same, whilst the car is running and the key is in & set to ON, then press button III and the siren will chirp indicating it's turned off..

I've installed several of these stupid alarms because my mates just read up on forums going "this alarm is zee hektic I want one".. I get cases of beer, so I just install and receive beer.. everyone wins LOL

YES!! that was spot on as it was the alarm button which i must have accidentally pressed that turn on the turbo timer which is connected to the turbo timer (did not know i had a turbo timer), saved myself time and money all thanks to you guys :D

This is the silliest idea ever!

Car thief beats the alarm system's 3 interrupts, then has a point to start your car, any turbo timer fitted.

Turbo timer gives a thief the three things it needs to start your pride & joy:

1. Power

2. Accessories

3. Ignition

May as well just hand your keys over!

Turbo timers are the biggest wank PERIOD!!

One of our apprentices recently bought an R33 GTST. It has a 2-5/8'' LIQUID FILLED boost gauge screwed to the upper left corner of the steering column shroud. I wondered why the previous owner had forked the extra for the liquid?

Wheel balance issues?

brake shudder maybe?

No, it was bigger than that.

The liquid is to smooth out the violent shaking from the engine overheating & sh#tting itself, because the boost gauge completely obstructs the temp gauge!

I pointed this out to the apprentice 5 months ago, boost gauge is still there..........

I have 1x gauge in my car and it's a wideband AFR other than that, there are no wanky dials in my car. There's a slim Engine Guardian which shows my water temp, oil temp and alerts on low oil pressure and doesn't stand out.

    • It's also worth noting that I am heavily and unconditionally biased. I've had a lot of cars including some GTRs a fair while ago. I love my BMW's now a lot. They make no sense a lot of the time and the guys on here remind me regularly that I could get something else that does what I want better and cheaper. If you're going to take on an older BMW it's definitely a commitment. If you bail on it early you'll lose money and also the ability for it to put a smile on your face. Stick with it and it just gets better.  f**k I should get into advertising.  
    • Careful with posts like that around here without the flame suit on @cobo_11! 😂😂 My 330i journal is on here too. That car was so good and super reliable. We still have a 130i in the family which is almost identical to the 330i and easier to find in manual. It has also been almost faultless over the 6 or so years in the family.  I used to want an M car a lot more than I do now but if I'm honest and without trying to sound like a wanker, I can get such good performance and handling out of my 335 without needing to worry about all the crap that goes along with M car ownership. I don't need to worry about my bearings or subframe issues or the cost of replacing brakes or suspension or whether it has been impeccably maintained. And I can leave it places and not get upset when it's always filthy.

I'm sort of on the road to E90 ownership (325i or 330i), haven't hit the fork in the road yet "Yes" | "No", and some of the issues you've faced have me nervous for the age these are getting to nowadays (that wiring, jesus), but I'm guessing the pro's of ownership are still outweighing the con's? Of course, if the bloody tattslotto ROI actually went my way...E90 M3. And I'd have the cash to do all the extra lovely maintenance THOSE require. 😄
