Gents,

How's it going?

Just picked this up...1992 Subaru Liberty RS Wagon manual

Will post some pics when I collect it tomorrow. Has anyone had any experience with these cars?

Solid as a rock, I need to get a new front seat, steering wheel and gear knob. Just general wear and tare.

Don't watch MCM unless you want your car to be worse than it currently is, those guys have no clue...

Is that a Jap plate on the windscreen? Fresh import?

sorry gents,

here is the actual car...

AUS delivered car...

Needs a fair bit of work.

car has done 330,000kms.

I need help to find the following.

Looks good, it's a turbo wagon so you gotta love that. I was just interested in seeing the Japanese plates behind the windsceen because it looks like my area of Tokyo but they are usually Shinagawa plated as I don't think there is a rego place closer than that. It was hard to make out from the picture though hence the request for a better picture.

Engine runs really sweet.

Probably going to need a new clutch, needs new brakes as well.

In regards to the steering wheel, any aftermarket wheel will fit on as it's got a factory momo boss kit, in regards to the seats, my brother has an RS Legacy (yes a Legacy, they're only called Liberty's here) sedan, and has version 6 WRX seats, the rails from your factory seats bolt on to the newer seats with no modification. Is the car a manual? Just get any aftermarket knob off eBay?

Thank you!!!

Yes, car is a 5 speed manual!

RS legacy... fairly rare right? I'll look for some of those seats.

Gents,

Can someone please tell me if these seats fit my car?/

Yeah they're rare as hens teeth in Aus, only seen one here, my brother lives in NZ, and they were widely imported over there..

In regards to those seats, not positive that they would bolt directly in, however the rails are easily removed and swapped.. Funnily enough I parted out an 89 GT wagon a few years ago, had full options and electric leather seats, only got $100 for the seats! ( in NZ tho )

Hope that helps

Great cars, just be careful with the "glass" gearbox. Has a rep for being very fragile and unable to handle the all wheel drive grip with some lead footed driving (as MCM Marty found out)

Update on the car...

Getting new brakes, new clutch and have just found a steering wheel to suit.

Overall the car has been really well maintained in terms of engine and so on, the seller sent me all the service history.

Outside the car is not so good, has a mark on every panel pretty much, I'm going to paint the roof one of the following colors, black, white or silver.
What do you guys reckon?

A good cut and polish will fix most of the scratches.

I just need to find out whether the seats on ebay will fit my car.
Seats are from a 1998 Subaru Liberty... any help appreciated.

Cheers

Do you need photos? I only have 1 of the car see above...

The roof doesn't need to be touched, just the rest of the car.

    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
    • Yeah, really happy with how it all turned out As for aftermarket lip, nah, I'm not really a fan for practically reasons on a street car that gets driven everywhere  I did have the full lower kit on my 2015 STI, but found the front lip scrapped alot, even at stock 4x4ish ride height As the NC sits now, with the lowest point of the car at 110mm, so just legal, some steep driveways and steep speed humps will still "just" scrap those little plastic OEM air dam thingies on the undertray just before the front wheels
    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
