So went looking for Button interview post race. Was curious to see if he was sooking about rough and ready racing or thought it was fun tough racing? Glad to see he is enjoying his last few races in a McLaren :) I almost feel sorry for him

Jenson Button: "This wasn't the result I was after - but the was good fun nonetheless. It's just a pity that we didn't quite have the race pace we'd hoped for: when you start fifth and sixth, you're not just looking for a points finish, you want a bit more than that. If we'd had a clear run, I think we could have done a bit better - but, in the traffic, it was easier for the cars around us to pick us off than it was for us to pick them off. I had an amazing battle with Checo - we took the first Lesmo side by side, which doesn't happen very often. It's a pity I couldn't get past him - I tried so many times - but he was so strong under braking that to match him into the turns I was locking up the fronts and the rears, which left me struggling for position on the exits. But I was really on the limit. It was superb wheel-to-wheel action - I hope it was great entertainment for the spectators and fantastic TV for the fans at home."

They did put on a good scrap for us! I bet Checo enjoyed rubbing McLaren's nose in it lol

How funny is it? Just embrace it or go to Advanced Hair. Fark knows e has more money than Warne

Proving his inner farktard is strong...cant even be a good winner. Rosberg did choke, but glad he he was upbeat when he jumped from the car. Sick of sooks! Bottas and Dan continue to show their class

Thought Homo tried pretty hard on the podium to overcome his tardism. Britney looked to be sulking when Lewis went in for a cuddle.

Dan needs to sort his Saturdays and his starts. But damn fine drive none the less.

Also I like the conspiracy theories that Rosberg deliberately threw the race away. Nice work.

Will be interesting in Singapore. Homo needs to keep winning to close the 22 point gap down - there are only 6 races left.

I thought Magnussen was hard done by. But I like the precedent. You cant jsut drive other cars off the track when they are alongside you. This "right to the racing line" is a bit of a crock when there is another car alongside you, even if they are only 1/3....the fact that they are there means you shouldnt just ruthlessly cut their lunch.

Look at the amazing, respectful racing you had with Massa, Hamiltion, Macs and FI. Dan...Bottas...all respectful of the track needs of the car the guy that they are racing. One of the best Monzas I remember.

Dan has messed up the last two quali sessions with mistakes. Hope he can get it right in Singapore where Vettel has been untouchable. Tempted to jump on a plane.

I thought the Magnussen penalty was reasonable... Bottas was in front and on the racing line into 1... Magnussen was NEVER going to make it without driving Bottas clean off the road, so fair penalty imo.

I'd be interested to see the Guittierez pass that left him with a puncture...From the quick look they showed as it happened, it looked like he was in the process of passing, then decided to squeeze whoever it was he was passing and gave himself a puncture, pretty amateur looking move...But it may have been the other car moving into him, I didn't see a replay to be sure..

and Hamilton really needs Rosberg to have some DNF's or at least bad races if he's a chance to win it... They said that if Merc finish 1-2 for the remaining races, Hamilton has to be 1st in every one to beat Rosberg, and no one really looks like spoiling the 1-2's apart from the odd good strategy/race from RBR and maybe Williams...

The double point stupidity makes it a mess but basically 6 races, 22 points difference and 7 points differential for a 1-2. But like you say one DNF and it all changes.

I thought the Magnussen penalty was borderline. He did kind of open the steering a bit mid corner, but it's a tight corner to start with. There has been much worse running people off the road at other tracks that haven't received penalties.

Was a great drive by Dan. Pity he started poorly and got pushed off at the first chicane.

Anyone see Adam Parr tweet? 8 teams for next year and 3rd cars in 2015.

Sauber, Marussia, Caterham, Lotus all in trouble. McLaren, Williams losing money. Though Saubers seems to have a Canadian billionaire to their rescue

Pretty bad for Williams as they are losing money this year. From GPWeek mag. For the first six months of 2014 they lost $33.4M US against an income of $60M. Ouch. Bad because they now have an actual sponsor, a pay driver and a bunch of prize money although the tv rights from 4th in the constructors should held kick in for the next 6. But if they are losing money then god help the likes of Sauber and Lotus.

Still it is Ferrari's, Redbull's etc (ie the big team but mostly those two) who hoover up all the money to the detriment of the smaller teams. Not going to be so clever when there is no one left to compete against. Basically if the business model doesn't stack up for the mid field then it is broken.

Third cars suck balls. All of the teams should bring their own designs. No dodgy Benetton/Ligier hook-ups like Tom Walkinshaw managed before he went bankrupt.

But that is the point. There should be somewhere in the midfield that a team can survive and if they are good enough, prosper. The lack of money means a lack of development which leaves them somewhere down the back of the grid and potentially going bust. Meanwhile RedBull & Ferrari hoover up all the cash which they clearly don't really need to be viable.

The last team which wasn't manufacturer or drinks company backed (So not RedBull or MB) to go from being a midfield runner to a contender was probably Jordan. And that was what, near on 20 years ago? Williams may just get back up on the plane but by god they are spending some coin to do so. Hope it pays off.

I think Sauber have earned their right to be on the grid. Very suscessful sportscar program. Encouraging results in the early year with Ilmor-Mercedes engines before they went to McLaren.

Had a tidy car in the BMW years proving that they were doing as good job pre and post BMW as the results were not overly better with rubbish BMW Motorsport muddying the waters. They are a strong "mess up and we will be there to grab a podium" team. They are missing James Allison going to STR, but they are what F1 needs.

And forget Fezz and RBR taking too much money out of the sport. How about CVC/FOM take a smaller percentage for their management of the series and give it to team and circuit owners. How about they dont rape teams by having contracts with airlines, hotels and DHL etc which dictate that teams in the series must use these series sponsors. Only for these service providers to rape teams by charging higher airline fees than joe public are charged. Higher hotel rates...I read DHL absolutely rape F1 teams for logistic costs. And all these paid premiums are no doubt kick backs to FOM for awarding the contracts in the first place.

Farking capitalism and carnts with billions that somehow need billions more. I remember when sport was sport. People lived in communities....now we all seem to live in an econmomy where everything serves the economy and need for bigger profits year on year. F1 is just a reflection of the broader business/economic paradigm that corrupts everything it farking touches.

Phew, feel a little better now for that purge.

Meanwhile Uncle Joe talking that Vettel to Ferrari frees up Alonso for Mac. I hope something changes at McLaren, Sauber too. Bin Sutil and get Frijns in the car with the new Canadian money

Solidarity bruvvers and sisters.

F1 is sport for the couple hours they are on track on a Sunday afternoon. The rest of the time its just business. So the big teams lock in their advantages and incomes with no thought to anyone other than themselves. Best and most unforgivable example was Ferrari negotiated themselves in the position of having the right to veto rule changes.

You are right there are too many snouts in the trough. It is madness that the circuits and the teams are the ones that are struggling most. I mean other than putting on the show what else do they do? Venture capitalists who give no fk about the sport are raking in the big coin.
