Yes it should decide the outcome of the championship. That is exactly the point of a championship! It is all about who has performed the best over the course of the championship. It's 100% fair if everyone has to adhere to the rules. That way you will 100% have the person that deserves the championship.

Well here is something to rock your world. When Jim Clark won the championship in 1965 he did so with 6 results out of the 10 races. He didn't even bother to compete in all of them.

So lets see, if some gets piled into by say (random example) MALDONADO in the last race after going head to head all year that shows the other driver is 100% deserving?

That's racing. Shit happens.

What if say that didn't happen. And instead hit the guy coming 2nd in the championship with many laps to go? You couldn't say that the other guy wouldn't catch and overtake, or even the guy coming first could have mechanical failure or even crash out.

You're dealing with absolutes, make every race count. It's the only way to get a better painted picture of the year.

Yes shit does, in fact, happen. Which is why dropping a couple/three/four rounds from your results over the season is important as it allows the removal of random shit.

Another example which proves it doesn't always work out that way anyway. In 1988 McLaren won 15 of 16 races. Both drivers knew that HAD to win races, points finishes would not count. None the less a double DNF at Imola almost affected the outcome.

Prost scored more points over the season but Senna won the WDC on account of more wins and more points that counted. Both were doing all they could to win. Senna won 8, Prost 7. Fair result or should Prost have won on account of more second place finishes?

As for his race it was another peerless demonstration of his superiority in the W05. Bernie once suggested (yeah, another one of those great Bernie suggestions) that we should have gold, silver and bronze medals to decide the drivers' title. If that was the case then Lewis would have one hand on the trophy, with eight wins to Nico's four wins and four races to go.

I like the idea of dropping some results... It makes perfect sense when there's people like Maldonado out there, who are not even close to being in contention for a WDC, destroying the championship hopes of genuine contenders with stupid mistakes. Not racing incidents, just bad driving.

and double points at the last race goes the opposite way to giving it to the most deserving driver... Hamilton could be leading the championship by 49 points, get wiped out by Maldonado and have his team mate steal the title with 1 win counting as 2.

Firstly I am not apportioning any blame to Bianchi in this accident...but I am wondering with technology what it is today why dont they have detection lines at flag points and cars hit rev limits that will see the cars slow and need to downshift and maintain 120km/h until then clear the flag point where the next green is shown.

Seriously the drivers tendency to speed through double waved yellows in V8 Supercars is terrible and F1 not much better. Has long frustrated me that FIA dont police it more heavily and a joke that in quali sessions drivers only need to demonstrate a lift of a tenth or two as acknowledging the yellow

Well he apparently was aquaplaning and just a passenger so not much he could do at a slower speed. At that end of the race though I assume most stayed out on inters to avoid a pit stop when everyone knew wets were needed.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
