Rb25 Stalled Now Won't Start

Hi all, I stalled my car while reversing, now it won't start. It keeps turning but won't actually start, plus it's got a knock/clunk coming from the front of the motor now (it didn't before). Any idea what it could be? Don't want to trailer it home and strip it down if it's a simple fix (doesn't sound good though)

Lol I knew it was a long shot but thought it was worth a try. I thought at first a broken rod or valve but the engine should still run on 5 cylinders

Yes it should, but 6 is better

I wouldn't try & start it anymore, you need to investigate the knocking noise first.

Go through the basics first

What was the car like last time you drove it?

I pulled shit apart last night and found it was the timing belt guide on the passenger side that broke. Hopefully it hasn't caused other damage.

Broken timing belt idler?

Does the pulley still turn or is it seized?

If thats gone, then I reckon your gonna be pulling the head aswell - non free spinning engines.

The idler completely snapped off. The engine stil spins fine, turns over no worries.

Because the vales are already bent.... Good luck with it. Would pay to do a comp test and maybe leak down to check for issues.

Yea, hoping valves aren't bent but I did plan to check

I already suggested leak down and comp test.

Do a comp test first. Could probably go ghetto and stock finger over spark plug hole

Pull a cam cover & visual the clearance between the cam lobe & bucket.
