Hi lads,

(Sincerely sorry if this is the wrong spot for this...)

I'm looking for some guidance and tips for taking photos of a White car with black/CF accents (Wheels, lip, diffuser etc etc). Ie - Good backdrops for white cars, settings to use and general editing afterwards (programs, filters? etc).

I did the standard google research but it seems so varied based on peoples taste and general opinion, so thought I might have a little more luck here in a car specific community.

Camera i'll be using is a Sony DSC-RX100, from all the research I did it seemed pretty well suited to my purpose and one of the best options.

I basically know next to nothing about photography so please treat me as such, I may not know what your abbreviations mean and so forth.

Again i'm really sorry if this is the wrong place, I did my best to look for an appropriate forum for my query and this is the best I could find.

Thanks chaps,

Chris.

P.s : Photo of the car below, so you can see what i'm working with! ^_^

hi mate,

im beginning photography also, i recently bought a new slr. one of my cameras scenes is one point colour, basically i line up the shot then select the colour i want to stand out with the remaining colours going grayscale. maybe your sony has this option? if not im sure it wouldnt be too hard to edit this after to one point colour

also try not to have vertical things coming from your car in the background. maybe a good background would be the pinks/oranges of a sunset perhaps, might reflect on your paint and be real nice.

try joining australian photgraphy forum, heaps of people with know how on there, they also have an automotive photography section.

good luck

mick

    • @GTSBoy I found the issue (sort of) when I took apart the bushing again, it was completely dry inside! When I experimented with it, all the grease would push out when I would compress the bushings. I wonder if this has anything to do with me putting in the poly bush first on both sides and then pushing in the metal barrel. Maybe I should have put in the metal barrel first then the rubber bushings so the spread pattern is different.   It's fixed (for now).
    • Just redid that entire job. 4 hours, but tightened everything properly. Had to jack the rotor instead of having the car on blocks as there was no room for the FUCA arms to tighten and the j arm. All good now. Cheers for the help!
    • I would sell those side feeds before you hydra-lock a motor. I won't say too much about Yellow Jackets because I'll hurt people's feelings, however ask those that tune RBs day in/out what they think of them.
    • The 1000ccs are side feeds but they're not currently installed, had my old factory ones in for leak testing purposes, only decided on them because front facing plenums and good top feed rail kits are out of my budget at the moment, are they really that problematic? Had a set of yellow jackets that lasted me 5 years, no real issues, only replaced them chasing this misfire issue that ended up not being ignition related 😄
    • Are those 1000cc side feeds? If so, that's part of your problem. I have 1480cc and they idle at stoich on 98RON, and all the way to E85. Also your coil packs.....
