R33 Camshaft Bearings

Hey guys just had a bit of engine noise diagnosed on the 33 turns out to be the camshaft bearings are quite worn out so the question is can you replace those bearings?

Can I just buy tomei poncams and replace it altogether or are bearings separate or what ?

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject I'm not too familiar with engine bearings

There are no bearings, they run directly in the head . You could repair it by line boring it, but a new head would be the sensible option.

Actually a replacement engine would make more sense, as ruined cam 'bearings, (housing? ) is a sign of neglect.

Have you pulled the cam caps off to check? Sounds odd they are worn. They usually pick up or 'gall' which happens alot if caps not correctly tensioned. Get some internal micrometers on them and cam and check clearance.

Did they remove the rocker covers to check the bearing saddles?

If not get a second opinion.....

I would get a second opinion. I have never heard of an RB ruining a head like that.

Sure its not lifters or even the CAS?
