Hey guys, wanting to add some cams/poncams/pro cams... I dont really know too much of a difference between them all. Basically just looking for some advice on what would best suite my car.

r33 gtst S2, Current mod list-

Gtx3582r turbo, mild Steele exhaust manifold, all custom alloy piping, HDI intercooler, Greddy intake manifold with 90mm throttle body, Bosch 1000cc injectors, split fire coil packs, turbo smart 45mm hypergate wastegate, turbo smart supersonic bov, m spec alloy radiator, Apexi power FC ecu with z32 Afm and hand controller, full 3 inch turbo back exhaust with dcat, walbro 500kw fuel pump, twin place ceramic clutch. And it's a series 2, 33 gtst.

I think if you are dead set on getting cams, then go for the baby 256 cams. Seen as you have a larger turbo you dont want to go losing your bottom end so you definently dont want to get a cam that loses the VCT

I'm not sure how worthwhile cams will actually be with your setup though

I have tomei 256 that I can get off a friend and just want to know if it's worthwhile with my setup. And yeah I didn't buy the car too long ago, got it for quite cheap considering what's in it, so I expected it to go bang down the track. The guy that owned it before me obviously thrashed it, boost was set to 26 psi and running well over 300kw. Well I thought another thread with a different topic made sense. Lol

The poncams are what you want when your head is still stock and you still retain hydro lifters. They work well in setups from 250 to high 300kw setups. I gained good increase in midrange and abit of response, peak power went up a little or about 10kw so I would say there a good all round cam for most setups.

You may want to tell us your intended use, street, track, drag?

RPM limits of the build or how far your prepared to have it rev to, or do you want low down grunt and not worried out max power at high RPM?

What sort of boost do you intend to run up to?

98 or E85?

Whats the compression like at the moment, is it a high compression or low compression build?

Are you prepeared to take the head off to machine clearance for larger lobes, and possiblly fit stronger valve springs?

Many factorys need to be taken into account when selecting a camshaft, much like a turbo selection, camshaft choice is much about the package you have..

Whats right for my engine may be a dog on yours.....

Thanks for the responses. It's just for street use really, no track days etc planned for this car. Running on 98. Many have said that my turbo is too much for only running 300kw, I tend to agree as it takes until 4/4500rpm to hit full boost. What would be a suitable turbo for my current setup, something like a 3076? And what rear housing.
