yo!

Im giving Huntley Hill climb a go on Feb the 2nd, anyone here done it? Neil - i am looking at you!!

havent had a chance to search youtube for vids but yeah - if anyone has a link to their own post away!

Im thinking it should be fairly fun in the MX5

I've had two cracks at it, its HEAPS of fun.

Doing it in an MX5, you should almost be able to hold it flat through the "Y" section. There is so much time to be had from there to the left hander at the top control tower.

Neil should be able to give you some tips on the best way to get up Huntley.

Clinton and I have been going to do it for a while but there are a few difficult turns half way up and there are no run off areas if you come undone. It would be easier in the MX5 because you would be more concerned with being smooth and maintaining mid corner speed instead of our point and shoot approach.

It is usually a good event - depending on what we have on we may call down and say hello.

Nah I don't Chris. I know Deano has an incar, but I can't find it on Youtoob!

Best to stay right to the end as a lot of the guys seem to pack up after 2ish. The last hour is run after run. On average I'd say you'd get 12-15 runs if enough people leave/stack/break cars.

Sorry Chris,,,didn't see this thread. I've done Huntley heaps of times,,,it's a great climb and I'm actually a club member now.

Dangerous,,,indeed,,,but If motorsport didn't have an element of danger then it would be boring wouldn't it.

Mate it's a cool old track that has had some upgrades after a gent got out of his comfort zone and passed away.

I have heaps of vids but have never bothered posting them up,,,my best advice is drive up there and just walk it and and then drive it in your road car,,,it's just an old road up into the mines thats open to the public. Start and finish lines are perminately marked so that bits easy,,,just be careful of thrashing up there because the residents will call the cops. There is a tree root sticking out slightly at the Y which you need not to hit,,,but the rest of it is fantastic.

Feb 2nd is a multicar club day,,,might see if I can run the oh so slow Skyline up there as well.

Cheers

Neil.

Thanks Neil!

hope to see you there. just shot off my entry this morning.

if anyone else is interested

Jase - haha might still be faster than me though!

Thanks Neil!

No way buddy,,,mountain straight is way more challenging tiger,,, just that 1st right-hander at speed is sphincter gripping stuff,,,the rest of it is fanbloodytastic.

Huntley is totally different,,,like every hillclimb they are all unique.

Have I told you lately Jase you are a beautiful hunk of manhood.

Cheers

Neil.

Hey bud, im thinking of entering, but a bit confused as to how.

Do i just print out the entry form, fill it out/sign it and send them the file together with my payment receipt?

What email do i send to, im blind, cant seem to see which email to send the entry form to!

Is the scrutineer on the day at Huntley?

Would you say i would be classed as SVM? (jza80 supra, single turbo etc etc).

Appreciate the help and from anyone else that knows

cheers

hey mazman,

I printed it out, signed and then did the online bank transfer and I think its the sup regs, the event sec's email is there, I just emailed it to him and in the email saying I hope this is the correct way! I also took a screen shot of my bank transfer for proof of payment as they wont accept entries without payment or proof of payment.

as far as I know the scruitineer is there on the day.

yep, SVM and 3001cc + I would say.

Sweet!!

last time I clicked that (2 days ago) it had the previous event so all good

yay im in!

I gave my car trailer a slight service last night, regreased all bearings and tighten brakes.

now to get that rego'd and Im all good.

Car is sleeping in car hole waiting patiently!

I just noticed they mention padding for roll cages.

now my car has been fitted with padding since 2009 when it was log booked as a 2F prod sports car - anyone know if that will still be fine?

    • Please do not connect it to your manifold. If you do, as GTS suggested please record the lot in 4K with good mics attached.   On the factory Skyline, there's a upside down pipe that allows it to breathe, looks like this
    • For me I'd need some serious justification for why it has blown out.  Have you questioned him on it?  To be honest if you didn't question him right from the get-go on the first invoice that was already way over the initial quote and then you've (presumably) then paid another $1375 on top of the first invoice, then you're pushing shit uphill to get a favourable result now... It was years ago I last got an engineer out but it was around $450-$550 per visit.  That was just to inspect each progress point he gave me for the project.  Is he just doing progress inspections or is he providing engineering diagrams, technical assistance, etc??  If he's not, he's a filthy rip off merchant.  If the $3100 is the final sign off then you need to cop it on the chin, pay it and move on.  If it's not, piss him off and get a new one.  Not many Jeeps I'd value at $10K full stop let alone just engineering fees on a written off, half actual value WOVR Jeep....
    • Oh, yes. If you connected it to the manifold your first drive would be very eventful. Very shit. Very interesting. Perhaps take a video if you feel the need to see. Terminating the breather at the top of the bellhousing is normal/stock. Some gearbox lubes (hello Redline Shockproof) like to foam up a bit and require the breather to be extended up higher, so you don't get spots of smurf jizz staining the floor under your car. Mine is thus right up behind the head. Make sure you fit a u-bend at the top so it points back downward so that dirt and schmutz has a harder time getting into it.
    • Cheers for the replies. So i don't connect it to the manifold I just run the hose high up on the firewall?
    • It doesn't really answer your question...but is the head unit full android or just android auto, are you happy with how quickly it boots and responds, and do you have a link?  If we can identify good Android alternatives it will really help people stuck with Japanese screens. Did it have a separate reverse camera input so you would replace the factory one, or are you just going without now...that would be a pretty big steps back. And finally, do you have a picture of the "wire" that you can't plug in? Most likely it is some sort of aerial that is not too important eg japanese traffic or am radio or something if you haven't noticed a functionality issue
