Hi,

Just picked up a 2004 M35 350RX Four

IMG_20140108_192033.jpg

Its a marked improvement on the pulsar and good to be back in a car with some power since selling my Autech S15

Just wondering what "security" this has, it has a flashing light, but is that all it is or does it come with an immobiliser etc as standard

also wondering if anyone can tell me what this is/does?, located to the right of the steering wheel under the security light

I would also like to get the trip computer translated into english but the auckland contact from the youtube vid on the xanavi website no longer does it, is there anyone who does it? or am I shit out of luck?

Cheers

That appears to just have the alarm fitted by the dealer which is part of the wing mirror fold-in option, usually the cars have a second LED above that security one which is to do with the smart keys and immobiliser.

Do you have smart keys?

Cheers for that info PN-Mad

It does fold its mirrors when locking the car, but it does not have smart keys unfortunately.

Mine has the same security light (no sticker). Do you have a T shaped object in the middle of your dash near the windscreen by any chance?

My car also has Nissan factory security. It has a different light (just above the one you pictured) and is part of the moulding... as well as a large grey sensor on the passenger A pillar.

hmm, need to see the factory options catalogue to see if it was in there.

We couldn't find any alarm/security error notifications or a reset option on mine when it was on Consult (my car was broken into on NYE and the "security" led has not stopped blinking since).

Nope I don't have a t-shaped object or the sensor on the A pillar, must have been a couple of levels of "security" from the factory.

Sorry to hear your car got broken into, i can remember finding glass months after my old car got done over.

There's a guy advertising on TradeMe who does translations for Nissan screens, can't remember the keywords for how I found it though, sorry.

Hmmm that sounds interesting, can't see anything on there at the moment but will keep an eye out. I have found a couple of NZ companies that say on their websites that they can convert the nav to NZ maps for all Jap models so might look into that too.

I have two!

The security one as pictured above, and another separate blinking led just above it.

Yup, the one above I believe is to do with the immobiliser and smart key. I think that one is a factory option. V35 skylines with our dash unsure what series it is but they have the little blinking LED in where the clock is.

Nothing was in there, not even the cup holders lol.

They did give me a broken window and dented door frame though. That bloody glass gets everywhere!

Sons a bitches! Sorry to hear it Cam, you need a car dog, one that lives in yo car.

    • Went looking at mine, reading off the tyre, presumably these are 1st week of 2003. Still hold air (I haven't had to pump them up in over 12 months!)     I couldn't quickly find the date on the front tyres, they were fitted around 2008 to the rims, so probably not quite as old, but they have a lot more dry rot cracks in them. Still hold air.
    • I am now intrigued to go check the dates on the tyres on my Skyline... We need a game of who has the oldest tyre still holding a car up, and successfully holding air (for longer than a 2 weeks I feel is successful air holding).   I feel your tyres may be beating mine
    • Ok, still waiting for a date to get the cams installed on the MX5, why so long, because MX5 Mania has received a few new sets of different cams with different specs for the MZR and are currently trialling them, and working out what is best for 2.5 "powers" with stock internals, in the end if I go bigger than the Kelford stage 1 cams I'll need to look at the valve springs  Hopefully I'll get the news on them next week As for the boot of the car getting fixed, I hopefully pick it up early next week, I was sweating on picking it up yesterday but, meh, it was not to be, so ne weekend cruising for me
    • Ok got some old tyres for you guys...my car has been sitting around un-driven for about 6 years now. I had it on the original rims with the shitty compliance tyres it got it with back in 2006, which were manufactured in 2004... Sidewalls eventually rotted and split open, obviously no air in them and the rims were holding the car up. Just swapped them with some 17" Work rims and tyres which are probably 10+ years old too but at least holding air
