Hi guys,

I am asking for opinions here as per heading, please only post based on personal

Experience not a mate or a mate of a mate had....

What i am after is a engine management system that does the following:

Shows live data on how the motors running

Shows faults like a diagnostic tool and can clear codes

Boost control

I would like to know what brand and model i should be looking at and why.

My car is an r34 gtt.

You need to give more info, like why you want that and what your power goals are.

For example, nistune will do all that except for boost control.

Keeping the factory ecu also means you will have everything working as it should, cold start perfect, idle control and not be an instant defect.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but does the apexi unit show fault codes? Also

Is it able to clear them?

It shows, far as I know, all sensor faults via the hand controller.

For what you want just get Nistune and a blitz boost controller separate, job done for roughly $1,000 not not including tune or install. Won't find better than that

Being the apexi pfc and the nistune setup.

At this stage I think the apexi pfc will be the go for me

All be it that im not a huge fan of the look of the hand controller

Personally I think they could have done better on that front

But it seems to be what I'm after.

Although the Power FC is fairly basic compared to most of the top replacement ECU's, the hand controller is an awesome feature.

I've had a Power FC in my car for the last 10 years and have recently fitted a wide band sensor with an in car display. I just wish I fitted the wideband around 10 years ago! It has given me the ability to fine tune the low end part of the tune and get it much better than I've ever had from a dyno tune (my car is also a daily driver).

Due to the monitoring ability of the ECU, coupled with the wide band, I am now able to diagnose most faults on the fly without having to dump it with a mechanic saying "it's not running right". I recently found my Fuel Pressure Regulator had failed, without having the real time monitoring of everything this could have been a costly exercise for a mechanic to trouble shoot.

So yes go for the Power FC, with boost controller (I use an Eboost Street) and I'd strongly consider having a wideband fitted. Mine cost around $400 - just make sure you get the sensor bung welded in the correct position, as the stock narrow band location is too close to the turbo for it to read accurately (mine is just forward of the CAT).

Power FC is good ecu that if you can find one for 34 GTT at reasonable $ - they're different to 33 just so you know.

I'm planning on putting Adaptronic plug in mine but I'm looking to move my 34 for another GTR, I've told/read good things about them and it's pretty good kit, definitely worth consider if you're having trouble getting a Power FC.

Edit; Should add, pity the Adaptronic doesn't come with hand controller of some sort but you're provided with a usb plug that you could plug into your laptop with software from Adaptronic themselves - that is what I was told by couple of friends.
