Quick question, currently running 225/45/18 front and 245/40/18 rears.

Will changing to a 235/40 rear tyre upset the ABS or traction control at all? I'm not too fussed about the TC, as thats off when I drive it.

From online guides, the rolling diameter is as follows

225/45 is 659mm

245/40 is 653mm

235/40 is 645mm

Is this going to pose much of a problem? 235/40 wide tyres are so much cheaper and easier to come by than than 245/40. Rims are 18x10

As long as you're not talking about running different sizes front to rear (or, shudder, side to side) then neither system will know what you've done. It will be fine. Even with different sizes front to rear in those choices of size above, you should be 100% fine.

Yeah I'm not concerned about overall tyre size, just running a different size front to back in terms of overall diameter and if it will play up with the ABS etc

As I said, it's unlikely that the ABS or TCS will care about such a small speed difference. Those systems are not as picky as the ATTESSA is. The ABS is really only looking for sudden changes in speed on a given wheel - faster changes than are happening on other wheels. TCS is pretty much looking for the same thing in reverse. You wouldn't be the first to run tyres of that size difference on one of those cars.

I have the original wheels on my R34 GTR , I look at this beautiful mean looking machine and it looks empy down there and was wondering what size wheel/types will the R34 take without body mods.

my 350GT has 245/35z x r19" on the front and 275/30z x r19 on the back and it looks balanced, if you know what I mean?

I know MANY purests will not agree, but if we were all the same it would be a boring world.

I run a 18x 10.5 wide wheel with +15 offset on my 34 R. tyres are 265x35. Standard height, no rubbing whatsoever and fill the guards enough (could even go a +12 offset with ease). Next time will get a 275x35 tyre for a slightly fatter look.

Geezus. It's not as though there were already dozens of threads asking the same question.

Also, it's not as if you have an AWD system on board on the GTR that will crack the shits at you if you have different rolling diameters front to rear. Don't let common sense get in the way of your fashion decisions though.

I run 265/35's front and rear. No issues at all.

Can you fit this on a R33 gtst? Have you had any body work done? Whats your offset? I wanted to run this size but was told the biggest I could fit was 255s, which is what I have in there now, but its an unusual size and harder to find tyres.

I run R34 GTR rims (18x9 +30). No inner plastic guards at the front & guards have been rolled at all 4 corners.

My R33 used to have 235/35R19's at front (with some scrub on full lock) & 275/30R19's at the back. No issues at all. Cant remember the offset of the rims (they were a strong positive offset though)

Thanks. Yea my guards are rolled now. But 255s 19 35 fit without problems on mine, even before the guard rolls, why did you choose to go 235 on the front? How did 235s on the front and 275s on the rear change the balance of the car? R33s are already understeery enough, did it cause it to under-steer even more?

Now that I got my guards rolled, my aim is to fit 265s on the front and 285s on the rear. Wondering how feasible that is.

Though I will probably needs some chassis reinforcement. I already have a front strut brace but its not enough. The 20yr chassis is not fearing too well and it bends and rolls all over the place. I fitted a rear strut bar, but all that did is decrease rear grip and increase oversteer which I hate so I took it out. I told my mechanic to tighten all the chassis and suspension bolts but I think he "tightened the f**k" out of them and now steering wheel is really heavy and fights you going around corners like it just wants to straighten up. Silly move as now I think they all need to be re-torqued, and no one work shop knows the torque specs, at least not without charging half the cost of the car to do it.

I have tried to search info out and cannot find what I am looking for or get no reply so I will ask you.

Before I bought this car there had been a lot of $s spent on the motor and a new Nismo 2-way LSD and I wonder why they put a Greddy T78 single Turbo system on it instead of using the standard twin system that came with the car or to a better TT system.

They are now putting a Tomei pon drop in camshaft and a HKS 5 duel solinoid boost controller and will be on the Dyno later this week and then I will know what they will tune it to.

You do not list what car you have at the moment?

Big single = better than big twins. Now that you have been told the situation, why don't you go and read around for yourself to find out why?

Hey I am 71, you must be older going on the gruppy metre :rant: , this is all new to me ,I tried to find out and got conflicting oppinions depending on what they wanted from their car.

I have read this,there are different set ups for twins, Parrallel, Sequential and the Series type. A lot seem to like the series type but they can be a bit tricky at times, if the second turbo spools in power especially in a corner when not expected it can be :w00t:

Then a big single supplies air to all cylinders and more efficient , I guess depending on the quality gives you your desired results. That is iff you have the room for a big single.

You say Big Single=better , tell me your thinking why they are better and were the singles are better instead of sending me off to read the same info again :unsure:
