It'll be a louder spool noise and if you have an aftermarket blow off valve that allows a bit of flutter it will be much louder and high pitched also....

Assumed it would be louder but how much so? Is it worth the ~$200 ? No, run stock bov and will be keeping it that way. No time for the fully hektic flutterz and stalling constantly.

by the way, those dim sim intakes are a pain in the arse to fit...

I would recommend getting one from #@scotty nm35 instead

Really? They said it was a direct bolt on(from one of the traders here at SAU) - performance-wise

it's not, you'll need to buy extra hoses and shit to get it to fit

and if you're running the stock airbox, forget it.. look at the angles, it won't fit

Not to mention the bov return is mounted in the wrong spot, and would cause reversion across the afm hotwire.

My intake is about as close as you could get to bolt in, and you will still need to modify the bov/breather hardpipes.

Hmm...good thing I asked. I have a podfilter and will be using those normal pod filter covers from Just jap.

How much modification will be needed for the bov/breather hard pipes and what kind of sound difference between this and stock? (trying to ascertain whether its worth the hassle)

Or me ;)

get a pic up man

it should really be mentioned in the performance wise thread that this is not a bolt off bolt on affair. That would make a big difference in deciding whether to purchase from them or not.

The hassle is bolting it up to the stock airbox mainly. If you have a pod it can sit wherever so it is a lot easier to get away with an intake like theirs. Personally I would be sticking the stock airbox back in with a good cotton element and the factory snorkel, but it sounds like you want induction noise, not power correct?

My 80mm alloy intake will require around 3 inches to be trimmed off the BOV/Breather lines, as they would finish up inside the intake otherwise.

Making them on the bench and guaranteeing fitment is the hard part, as you well know, especially hard with BOV and Breather lines to line up from another state.

I would be glad when someone picks up the fabrication for (stock airbox) intakes as there isn't much call for them, but I don't want to ditch you skyline guys and stop producing them.

Well I am aware that a pod that is not shielded and sucking in hot air can lead to a performance decrease , but other then that , the decrease in power from stock box with high flow filter to POD is negligible enough to go with a POD for the sake of how awesome it sounds.

Hmm, seems like a bit too much work for a little extra sound

Scotty's are Simply a work of art. I'm currently using a Pod but got him to make a pipe to fit stock box. It accomodates either very nicely.

Not hard to cut the Breather and Bov pipes to install. Sounds all wooshy and stuff with a Pod. Very nice. :D

In Fact, the pic above is MY PIPE! Photo taken in the Backyard after painting.

Forget buying a metal pipe for sound though, Buy one to ensure your intake can NEVER Suck Shut!

Plus it looks totally tits and sounds sick.

for me it will purely be a sound issue, since I wont be running nearly enough boost to have my stock one suck shut...car is basically stock , just a daily cruiser :)
