Thanks to SAU. but I didn't know members do not like non-members.

Where the hell are you conjuring up this absolute crap? Thats about the dumbest and most unjustified comment I have heard for a long time. If you really feel the need to jump to such conclusions, dont post here please.

You couldnt be further from the mark

The driver of the 200sx did admit that it was an accident though I must admit the other guy was just continously broadcasting over the radio...you got your point through and that should be it...if he had further comments then just approach him and tell him to his face...not only did he wreck everyone's mood but he acted as though he was representing all members in telling him off...i'm sure most of us didn't feel it was all that necessary...

You calling me dumb is it?

On the radio, WHICH YOU DID NOT HEAR! the person did specifically asked if he was a member or not with a voice that already said this "farken silvia" is an outsider and is not welcome here.

I DID NOT REFER TO ALL MEMBERS. And I DID thank SAU for such a great day!

one particular member did take it out on a non-member.

What's wrong with me posting here about the day?

After all it is relevant. But calling people dumb is not.

You seem to take alot personally. Once again, I said above that your comment that implied that SAU members dont like non members was dumb, not you personally.

Again, I dont know who you are referring to, but all I have said is ifsomeone was driving in a stupid manor, then its not surprising that someone made comment. What was specifically said is something I cant comment on as I wasnt there so I clearly cant comment on wether any comments made were or were not justified.

Relax.

To be honest the way the guy was emphasising his words really made everyone feel like something bad was gonna happen... and he was using his "member" tone to tell the guy to f*** off and from memory he did say that the guy was not welcome by SAU.

Other than that... Everything's cool... we all had a great time although we needed more action to get groups to socialise more that day... Thanks to everyone who made it such a great day... Great to meet up with people that we only get to chat on forums to...although there were people that met up at windsor but didn't end up participating which was a pity...

Supra,

do you know the plates of the R33 that got cut off??

I was disappointed at quite a few people that day with the overtaking. The 2 people in particular know who they are and have apologised and realise the dangerousness of their actions and I'm fine by that... not holding any grudges. I did give a very serious warning to everyone that could hear me on the radio that it was getting a bit much and I just hope that most people heard me.

I think we've heard enough about the incident involving the R33 and the Harlequin S14. All I will say is that whoever you are in the R33, please refrain from the abusive language that the guys are complaining about in future and rather than take matters into your own hands come and see an event official and we will sort it out.

Supra, it seems the the guy driving the S14 made a rather dangerous error which endangered the safety of another vehicle. I hope he understands the error he made and will learn from it and is apologetic towards the car he caused danger to. As for the R33 driver it seems he *may* have gone a little overboard however I wasn't witness to the incident so I can't really say.

Lets all just learn from it and move on.

again I will re-iterate here, if anyone has any feedback on the cruise then please PM me or preferably email me on [email protected]

Thanks

Tosh

actually, I think there is a valid point here, we made "good" progress up the road, perhaps too good.

More than 1 attendee of the cruise commented to me that they would have been happier if we had been going slower, and that they felt pressure to "keep up" with the pace.

I think its something we need to address on future cruises.

Supra, I didn't see the incident and I did hear the radio. I'd agree that the point was made strongly and perhaps too strongly. It is VERY important to SAU that we have a clean reputation, a lot of import clubs do not have a good rep and we work hard to keep ours good.

I am *sure* however that it was not meant as a members / non-members dig.

A couple of the people who turned up but wasn't able to come was me and my mate. We took off from maccas but 5 mins down the road i had troubles with my clutch. Fixed it today. seems though my heavy duty clutch actually broke the welds on the clutch box that holds the pedal. just got it home. Was my first SAU meeting and looked like a heap of fun. Me and my mate in the green r32 will be joing SAU very soon.

i heard it all on the radio and was about 3 cars in front of the incident. the 200sx driver just ***ed up, (from memory he apologised) and someone else on the radio (i dont know who, i think the 33 that was cut off), gave him a real working over the radio. CCQ was right in what was said, and as a member of SAU i do not agree with the 33 driver. yes the 200sx driver ***ed up, he apologised, thats all that was needed. not this crap sau doesn't want you etc...

I remember seeing your mate's green r32 back at maccas whist we were back on the road and was dissapointed that we didn't take more pics...but we got a good catch of your cars...needed some nice colours to add to our album collection...

Sounds like this mystery 33 driver really went over the top Ash.

As others have said, anything like this should really be reported immediately to event officials/cruise organisers

I think it's all cool...I mean everyone has different reactions to things and maybe the 33 didn't realise how much was pouring out of him...

I found that some groups didn't really seem to be too sociable...they sorta just came and kept to their own little groups...i reckon more efforts should be made in bringing these little groups together...afterall we're there to show off our cars *wink* and appreciate others...

Silver R33 was GTR-number number S

to my memory, but I am not sure if it was him that radioed.

cause it could be the one infront of him which was another R33, marroon colour.

Any how, I was just here to say I was trying to calm the person down on the radio. And tried to have the day as pleasant as possible. And point out that we were there to make friends, not pick a fight. Also the s14 did aplogise, and admitted that he's a P plater... LOL and will be more careful next time!

Duncan : you were right, the pace was a bit extreme if this was classified a "cruise".

i think next time we need a faster group and a slower group, with a leader for each group, whom you can not overtake!!

that way the pace can be moderated and everyone has a safe fun time

It's a cruise, not a race.

Reading the last two pages, has confirmed what I had feared, in that people would be going at outrageous speeds, and endangering the welfare of others. There are always a few in the bunch, and they always seem to be the younger drivers sad2.gif

It seems to go hand in hand with convoy driving in performance cars. I fully understand how tempting it is to hammer it along such awesome roads such as Putty Rd.

HOWEVER........... people must remember that we're driving a pack of loud, fast performance cars that attract Police attention even whilst going the speed limit. Many people also complain how they get unwanted Police attention when they drive their cars, just because it's a turbocharged import. Did you ever stop and think why? Put yourself in a Toyota Camry with wife and kids going the opposite direction, only to have a group of turbocharged imports with young drivers rip past you at nearly double the speed limit.

Not only that, you are attending a Skylines Australia Cruise. You are bringing the club as well as performance cars in general into disrepute with your actions.

There shouldn't need to be two groups. It's a cruise guys, not a race.

true, sounds like a good plan Ash...

we were near the back, constantly catching up so we'd all slow down and let em in front... then end up catching up again...

was an awesome cruise, shame about these little issues and mistakes but it can be hard to avoid sometimes!

BIG :( for the guys that organised this... job well done!

Not sure it that would work, Ash... there are alot of people that WOULD want to go faster... regardless of what speed the pace car set....

I do agree with what you said in your previous post though... along with CCQ and whoever was talking along that vein... i also heard the r33 driver on the cb... and the way he was going on, i thought someone had actually crashed! the guy was swearing and he honestly sounded like he wanted to start a fight with the s14! and i had to ask a fair few times what had happened before it was finally clarified (by possibly supra) exactly what had happened...

And sorry again tosh... i know you were disappointed with one of my overtakes... all i can say is that is makes it hard when you ARE overtaking, to merge back in... especially when there are quite a few cars! When driving along, i was always consious of what was happened in front of me and behind me... and also who was passing me by... and if someone was overtaking on a two-way road, that i fell back a little to allow the overtaker to merge back in if s/he wanted to do so in front of me! It just makes it that much easier to get back onto the right side of the road.... without causing any scares or swearing fits...

I was there when this happened (he overtook me as well), and while it was risky I feel there is a lot of inexperience in the group on how to handle it. As a first timer with the club on a cruise I felt that people did get a mixed message once the group took off even though the address at the start did state this is a cruise. Some scooted off way ahead while others just cruised along, people such myself would look upon this as each to their own but some others might feel the need to "catch" the lead group. An idea for the future is that those who plan to overtake put their hazard lights and those driving along should accomodate that person. I have seen this work well over many years and while you can't help "enthusiasm" lets make sure at least we can compensate for it.

Enough said (feel like an old timer) it was a good day out and was impressed.

Here are some pics I took of the day.

    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now.
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
    • They do that at random every now and then, with almost no detectable cause. Mine has done it a couple of times (over 25 years!!). Never worked out why.
    • I don't post on here and have been lurking for some time now. Many of the topics have helped me out more times than i can count. I was racing yesterday (11/9) and blew a front right CV shaft. I have spares so I popped a new one in. A thread i read previously said to check the engine mounts if you blow a front CV. Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
    • Either way he still need those style of spacer to go into the manifold because the photo he currently has is not going to work
