Hey guys, i've not owned a Stagea before, nor do I know a whole lot about them but I'm interested in them!

Just wandering what you guys think of this? Decent deal etc. I'm interested in it or at least food for thought:

I'm located in SA but a drive to VIC is by no means hard!

Thanks for ANY input!!

it looks very nice as far as i can see from the images, if your willing to go check it out whynot just makesure if there is no rust as stageas tend to rust easy if neglected main spots is under the side view mirrors and when i was looking to buy my stagea i found that the cheaper they are the more rusty or problems they have good luck with finding a stagea all the best mate.

Not a bad deal, just check/ask about rust under the mirrors and verify that its not a cold pack model (usually just has 1 reverse light and 1 rear fog, whereas normal is symetrical and has 2 reverse lights)

RSFour S and 260RS were the only factory manual cars

Mines as cheap as they come, for an extensively modified example, doesn't mean it's got issues. Id say most C34 stageas will have under mirror rust, just how it is, and yes mine included.

See cars for sale section for the SAU Adelaide price ;) too cheap in all honesty.

Ready for its +270kw dyno tune but don't have the money to do it.

Owned my Stagea for ~8yrs now.

If you look at that black Series2 make sure you see the service history and import sheet to verify the kms. I could be sneaky and say mine is only 12,000kms old, lol :) *since bottom end build.

Best of luck finding what you want. Great cars. Best I've owned. But I do worry about being defected, hence why I'd let mine go to the right buyer. Only reason I'd sell.....

Cars always look good in photos!

Something to consider is that when getting the rego transferred to sa they do an inspection of the car, it doesn't go over the pits but they will spot things like the coilovers and not be happy with a pod etc. You will not be able to transfer rego until they are happy, so factor in swapping out the suspension.

Thanks for the replies guys!

What would you guys settle on as a good price for this stag?

And also, i've no experience with the whole swapping from Vic to SA so what costs would i be looking at there? $150ish petrol return, $300ish stamp duty. What else goes on top of this? and also, the rego swapping with the coilover and pod dilemna?

Thanks heaps!
Thomas

To register in SA:

- stock suspension, or non adjustable shocks

- not too low, must be minimum 320mm by memory from centre of wheel to wheel arch

- exhaust not too loud (4.5" will have some note to it!)

- pod filter fixed with bracket to engine bay wall, or replaced with stock airbox

- boost controller removed

- air bag steering wheel needs to be fitted for insurance purposes I believe

- standard turbo if they are cluey and check it out

- non Xenon headlights (series2 guys can tell you more about this)

Pretty much as standard as possible, within reason.

Best of luck with it!

So I just got off the phone with the bloke.

Basically could be $9500ish without rego/rwc and It'd be a pain in the ass to get all the rego done here in SA im guessing or $10500 with the rwc and 1 year rego. You guys have been really helpful, if I was to take it at that, with it registered in his name, get back to adelaide. What would be the next step? I'm guessing i can't just goto ezyreg and transfer the details?

Cheers!!

Unless you're set on having a black car and/or a series 2, then save yourself the hassle and buy Tangles' car. It's already in SA, already has plenty of mods that you'll likely end up doing anyway, and has been with one owner for ~8 years. If you want RWD only, it's only 4 bolts and the driveshaft drops out!

A S2 C34 with only 49,000k's on the clock & a price tag of $10,900 sets alarm bells off straight away! In all my searching I had never come across one with k's as low as that, & that was 3 years ago!!!

Auction papers are all good, but, do yourself a favor when checking cars like these out at: www.odometer-check.com (JOCI).

It could be the real deal...or not. Nearly all jap imports have odometers wound back. Another visual check you can do is to take a 10mm quarter drive ratchet with you & whip off the engine cover, & check for a timing belt replacement sticker on the timing belt cover ( most dealers forget to look under there), or an outline of where one use to be if they've gotten smart, then you know for sure.

Cruise the area where the dealers are, find a quiet workshop & ask them if you can bring a car in to chuck up on the hoist for 10 minutes, then you have a back up if the dealer doesn't have a hoist. If the car is a cold pack, then there will certainly be surface rust on the floor pan in the middle of the car, corrosion on suspension bolts & most certainly surface rust on the floor pan around the fuel tank.

I looked at HEAPS (nearly 50 over 8 months in Sydney) of Stageas as before I found mine, & I went to Brisbane to get it.

Dunno if you can get away with it down there for anyone buying one with mods (especially for retaining the xenons), but if you have a relative that lives away from Adelaide in a town in the sticks, get the inspection done there to avoid Regency.

Thanks for keeping up on the posts guys. I'm gonna give that one the miss, too much of a pain.

I've come across this one in Adelaide: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gawler-east/cars-vans-utes/stagea-rsfour-rsf-auto-99mod-rb25det-neo-low-kms-/1037546343

Could get for $10500, it's everything I wanted originally just lacking a sunroof.

Cheers guys

Bump any one, looking tomorrow
