Hi guys I was just wondering if any of you know any tricks to make it harder for people to steel your car. Stuff like disconnecting wires or stuff like that so someone can't just get your keys and go. I have a r32 gtst and I often here if them being stolen and it's a worry.

I fitted a Worksbell Quick Release Steering wheel and locking mechanism (in addition to standard alarm etc)

When parked - the wheel is turned to full lock and I take the Steering Wheel off (and with me if required) - then fit the locking hub over the boss.

Should at least discourage the 'joyriders'........

I got mine from here:

http://www.tunersgroup.com/

There are different bosses for different cars (depending on HICAS/super HICAS etc.) so difficult to give a price for your situation.

I matched mine to a Momo steering wheel as well - all up was about $ 600.

It should be noted that 'strictly speaking' the modification of the steering column in Victoria and replacement with a 'non padded' steering wheel is not legal - but frankly I dont care ;-)

^this!

had one for a year or two now i live in a dodge area where ive already had one r33 stolen and my brother had his ke70 stolen (luckily he got it back as it was used in a ram raid and dumped) anyway as far as im aware these are the ONLY steering lock in uk to be approved by insurers. now for anyone whos had insurance in the uk they will know this is a big deal as car insurance in the uk is legalised crime. one quote i received when iwas 19 and wanted insurance for a 1.2l renault clio was $16k.......

and no i dont sell these :P

I'd have a word with Chris Rogers, you'll find him in the car audio/security thread. What he doesn't know is not worth knowing.

I agree.

He's about to finish work on my car and then he's taking off to Vic for some lucky sods who managed to pool together to secure his services in making their cars just a wee bit harder to steal.

This car will be the 3rd car of mine he's worked on.

For the record, he's also willing to humor any sort of security idea you might have and he'll shoot you down if it's not worth doing. Fortunately he gave mine the go ahead BUT you better have money ready. Quality work does not come cheap.

Not saying I'm rich but I'd rather spend the money on a good security installation than an exhaust + tune only to lose everything when the car gets taken. An insurance payout isn't exactly the same as your pride and joy is it? ;)

thanks for the replies guys I might look into a GPS tracker so if it does ever get stolen the cops can see exactly where the car is

...for a while until it's stripped or burnt out.

Prevention is better than a gps tracker.
