jnr bonn
hey, I have done as much research on this as I can and cant find the answer Im looking for. I need to change the head gasket on my standard rb26, and I want to put on the smallest one I can, for highest comp. I have found apexi make a 0.8mm. my question is will this be fine for a standard engine or could I have interference problems. Also does anyone know of any thinner gaskets? and whats the lowest I could go without having problems? thanks. Ben C34
I don't think you could get any mls gasket thinner than that. Only option would be a copper gasket, you can get them in .5mm but would likely have to be custom and not worth the trouble. Not sure in clearance, I would guess and say it's ok as you are still using stock cams, but I would double check when assembling. GTSBoy
You'd have to be real careful handling a 0.5mm copper headgasket. It would fold like paper. Worse than that even. Ben C34
True, it would fold like really expensive paper. I wouldn't want to handle it either. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/438468-rb26-thinest-head-gasket/#findComment-7185379 Share on other sites
XKLABA
30 thou is as close as most recommend clearance from piston to head. .8mm would be the smallest I would use Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/438468-rb26-thinest-head-gasket/#findComment-7185483 Share on other sites
