wouldn't the bias go the other way though? bigger piston means less force on the rotor for the same pedal pressure (force = pressure/area) - so you're getting more clamp on the rears causing them to lock and trigger the ABS?

Problem i have is the abs kicks in way to soon even tho the brakes have much more left in them,

Not a problem with your ABS but rather your choice of caliper!

Why I have never liked this option as an upgrade. If you don thave ABS you would think the setup is crap. ABS in part masks how badly balanced the setup would be with EVO calipers....but will always make the ABS have a heart attack simply because those calipers and rotors will cause the brakes to lock sooo easy

Oh they are quite an improvement and work very very good when you combine them with gripy semis, shitty road tyres will see your abs going skits unless you improve the rear brakes, even if its just slotted rotors and good pads to help even out the brake bias

I was about to do this upgrade when I found a Nismo 355mm brake upgrade, I have fitted the front without doing anything to the rear and with Hankook RS3s on the street hard braking sees the ABS kicking in, the Nismo instructions says this will happen if you don't upgrade the rear with at least better pads :)

I am looking into an upgrade for the rear using a factory Nissan 350 x 20mm disc with the factory GTR brembo :D

Im about to put evo calipers on my HR31 with 33R rotors, only reason I didn't go to the 350mm rotors is because I would have to upgrade to 18 inch wheels. Topped off with PMU HC + pads and dba slotted rotors I think these will be more than enough to pull up the old girl.

For anyone looking for calipers I got mine through Streeter delivered to SA I paid just over $500 AUD. I need to put new seals through them and repaint them but still fall cheaper than some of the ones I have seen on ebay etc.

Im hoping the local engineer shop will be able to hook me up with adaptors for a pretty little penny.

Hope you have ABS. Either that or I hope you dont tail gate as first time you have to stop in an emergency I am betting $100 you will lock up and sail into something you dont want to hit

Your car will seriously stop MILES better if you get R32 GTSt or Z32 300ZX calipers and run them on a 324mm rotor. Actually, an R34 GTT setup with a 310mm rotor would probably be better again!

If you must run the EVO Brembos then all you are going to need is something like a basic Bendix pad. A high performance pad like PMU is only going to compound the problems of locking up

I'm actually running the alpha omega kit on the front with the Evo 350mm rotors. I haven't tested

Them on the track yet but in terms of feel and stopping power on the street it has been a massive improvement over my 32 brakes.

I'm also running endless mx72 pads.

In terms of rear braking, if I was to upgrade to a 4 piston 330mm set up, would that be overkill in regards to front/rear bias?

Have you run the MX72 pads before? What pads were you running on your old original R32 brakes?

So you have not tracked it but sounds like you have driven it plenty on the street. Do you have ABS? You have uber power so guessing you have used them for hard stops? If you have ABS does it kick in far earlier than before? What % increase or decrease do you have in pedal effort to stop the car in general driving.

LOL, lastly what BMC are you running ... sorry about all the questions

yeah.. the ABS n Evo's can pose a problem then >_<. isnt there a master cyl that you can use and adjust to prevent the lockup?

Sure the BMS has a part to play, but I think the bigger issue with the difference between EVOs and Skylines is probably the pedal ratio. It is really the only thing left that would allow for why EVOs can run such massive caliper pistons and not have a binary brake pedal. So if you must run the EVO brakes on your Skyline I think it would be wise to invest some time in trying to dumb down your pedal ratio

The Evo brembos are 4 pot

2x40 and 2x46 mm pistons on 350mm rotors

Looks the goods mate, might make your pedal a little softer but thats an easy fix
