now rolls almost 100% straight, definitely on the right track now, just going to do 1 more minor adjustment then get a wheel alignment monday/tuesday to get the toe accurately correct. thanks a lot everyone

3mm of toe on the front and 5mm on the back? woah. WAY too much.

+1mm max. I actually found my R33 felt way nicer with 0 front and back. 1mm front and back was enough to make it feel very boring to drive. safe but boring.

How much toe in/out you run can be very dependant on the type of bushes in your lower and upper front arms (and the rear really too, if you're talking about the rear)and also the caster rods. Specially the caster rods.

All wheel alignment setting are made static, with no load on the car from driving forwards. When you drive forwards at 60, 70, 100, whatever km/h, the road forces acting on the wheel push it backwards relative to the chassis. That is specifically what caster rods are there fore....to stop the wheels moving forwards or backwards. But of course, bushes have give in them. So if you set a car up with zero toe static, it will always end up with some toe out once driving. This is actually why stocking boring cars have some toe in static, so they come to approximately zero toe when driving. And it's why if you set up a car with zero toe it will be more darty/responsive (you choose which word you like) - because it will have some toe out. But a car with squidgy OEM caster rod bushes (and any of the other bushes) will undergo a bigger static-dynamic change than one with stiff bushes or solid joints. So what works for one car may be wrong for another even though they look quite similar. The bushes may not be similar enough.

Just food for thought.
