Radiator Suggestions

Ah. I was under the impression the remap was to suit the turbo already somehow, not what I guess was the previous turbo. Makes sense now.

I had heat issues for the first time ever after replacing the fan from stock to GKTECH, changed them back last weekend and test at SMSP and temps are back to perfect!

Drove the car on saturday when it was pissing down rain, maybe 12deg outsde crusing at 60km/h in 4th gear doing 2000 revs. Temps reached 120deg.

> Put standard fan back on (not even a good quality one, i cut about 1/3 of each blade away so it didn't foul on intercooler piping)

> New coolant

> Bleed system

> Has not gone over 80deg so far

Seems like Matt may be correct.

maybe the gktech fan is turning in the wrong direction or has the blades mixed up. so instead of pulling in air thru the radiator.. its pushing it.

bottom line, it's just shit lol

same thing on my mate's S15, OEM fan cools better.. the GK Tech one just makes loads of noise and that's it

Don't know whats going with you guys gktech fans but mine worked great since ive chucked it on noticed 2-3degrees improvement and Ive tested mine in mid 30 degree days on the track.

The blades on the OEM fan are way bigger and work so much better... They are closer to the radiator too!

how bout other electric fans? the Billion one seems fine... or there's an american brand as well.... cant rem the name

i was using a japanese branded fan on my S13.. temps were exactly how i wanted them every time.

The old engine fan does a hell of a job! No need for thermos etc...

actually once the engine is warmed up, there isnt a need for a thermostat when u are on the track. in case it might impede the flow plus... if the thermostat jammed... u'd have a problem. happened to me before..

Negative, the fan was on the correct way 110% sure.

Yeah we all checked that i am sure! It was one of my first thoughts too!

The fan cant spin backwards, unless the engine did!

If the fan is on backwards it would move less air, but still the correct direction.

^ unless the monkeys at GK tech have moulded the fan blades wrong so instead of a pull fan it has become a push fan LOL

Heres a photo of my bay as you can see no special ducting or anything just std shroud with the koyo rad and lol half of whatevers left of the plastic undertray. Weird why some setups works some doesnt.

OP what car do you have I was also at matsuri last weekend in the white 33 with bogged up rear quaters.

I have had the same troubles with over heating, after a good flogging of the car would get pretty hot, hotter than it usually has, investigated more and found a coolant leak, fixed that, tested again, same thing was happeing again, found another coolant leak, finally fixed the last coolant leak, took the car for a drive and it still is getting hot after like 5 minutes of skidding, the only thing I can out it down to is the standard fan, I had to chop about 2 inches off it to clear the cooler pipe, still had stock shroud and aftermarket radiator. Just brought some thermos gonna install them on the weekend and see how that goes with the temps, I'm hoping that this fixes the overheating issues!

I was using the GKtech fan and having issues. Swapped to my chopped out standard fan (I had to cut mine just like you did) and it has fixed all my problems.

I wouldnt blame the fan for that... I would start by going back to basics! Make sure all leaks are fixed and then start working on things like the radiator... Is it blocked, is it getting airflow etc... Waterpump... Is it flowing, is it worn etc... Headgasket... is it pressurizing the cooling system and causing your leaks bla bla bla
