I've driven a number of evo's from 6 to 10 and own a 32 GTR track car. The evo is ready to track out of the box with relatively few mods required. The GTR is a much different story as mentioned above

So did you push the car through some corners? Understand if you didn't as its not your car ;) On tighter tracks an evo is leagues ahead. On a more open track the Big R will lay waste to an evo HP pending of course lol

I did and it does. Though my car is pretty much set up properly as well.

As an owner of 3 Emos previously (6, 7 & an 8) and now have an R33 GTR I'd say go the GTR! But... and it's a big butt:

You need deep pockets to run a GTR as they have huge weight & power & that equals many sets of tyres & brakes. Plus they arent cheap to fix/maintain full stop.

The Evo's only ever lasted 6 months & I got bored. the 6 speed gearbox made the 8 so much better than the 6 & 7 I had but the handling was still 1 dimensional & boring on a track. However, on the road the Evos are more playful & more fun for it than the GTR by miles! The GTR feels too big & slow to respond...

The car will be mainly used for track duties with the odd occasion of going for a cruise. Ive come to the conclusion that I need to just go and drive a couple, I'm sure one will jump out at me more then the rest.

Ordinary is that your GTR videos on YouTube ?? Ordinarydriver ??? I assume it is.

The only thing that sways me to a EVO is the cost of running and mechanical strength at the track. Cheaper to run, cheaper to fix and just as quick.

But then again GTR's seem pretty bullet proof upto 250awkw, besides the oil starvation issue at the track and filling upto the bump in the stick seems to fix that problem.

Last thing I want is to spend around 20k on a car then need to spend another 10k on an engine rebuild in a year or so. This is where the Evo seems to have the edge in reliability. But then again anything can happen at the track.

How much have you tracked before if you don't mind me asking?

A stock gtr vs stock evo umm yes an evo is leagues ahead. .. A Stock GTR is a nugget ;)

Only cos Nissan got lazy and sat on their asses. Look at the incremental development with the evo over the years and compare that to the GTR. An R34 isn't that much better over an R32.

& of course your 9 is a couple generations younger than even the latest model R34.

Evo doesn't hold a candle to a GTR in terms of road presence too.

Dollar for dollar though, evo does win hands down. A 20k evo 8 would go a lot better round a track than a 20k 32GTR.

I 100% agree with that mate nothing says gtfo of my way like a GTR does on the road and on the track too! :D

I might be slightly biased to an evo owning 1 But pretty much all my mates own gtrs and i LOVE THEM so dont think im hating on GTR'S for a second here but im sorry reality is an evo is a better track car.

      who can tell me what this is and why my car talks to me? i think it's hilarious. it's on my r34 right above the drivers-side storage compartment. the characters under the wrench say "inspection". every 10 or 20 startups, a voice starts talking in japanese from some speaker in this area below the dashboard. it says a few sentences then shuts off. different from the ETC card reader voice that happens every time i start the car. I've never found the speaker, i've never been able to catch the voice and translate what it says, and i've never found a forum thread that tells me how to reset the warnings. the holes in between the symbols are NOT buttons you can press to reset the warnings. anyone else have this? has the demon lord from Hereditary infected my car?!

      Happy new years folks! Wishing you all a successful year of money pit ownership!  So the subframe bushes are out....   Ok, who else has done that job before??  What a C U Next Tuesday of a job that is!  Be glad to not do that again in a hurry! I think I explored every option available to chop the middle section of the bushes out, most of them unsuccessfully! I tried a holesaw, die grinder, normal drill bit, air chisel, etc, etc. The true success happened by accident when I'd decided to try a step drill I spotted on the bench on the way passed.  See, there are benefits to never cleaning up after yourself! It RIPPED through so so much better than the drill bit. It has to be the skinniest one available so its small enough to fit between the inner tube and outer casing but it made easy work of it.  First one i hammered the shit out of... New method- 20250102_185506.mp4   I did the other 5 in less time than I fluffed around with the first one. With the first couple I used the cut off saw (sawsall as the yanks love to call them) to cut a break in the outer casings. Even with that they're still a prick to hammer or air chisel out.  The last few i just went rambo with the air chisel without cutting them. I over cut one of the early ones so will hit the with the mig to fill the cut then sand it off smooth.  The carnage left over-   I've also been "nesting" ie, cleaning up my babies nursery,  ie cleaning the f**king pig sty of a shed. I've got that much shit laying around it's as cluttered as my head!  Getting things put away, in boxes, on shelves, hanging off walls, all to get some working space back again.  Hopefully that keeps me motivated....

      AFAIK does the base map for Haltech even have the 4D compensation enabled? It's been a while but when I looked at it I remember it was actually using pure TPS as one load signal and MAP for another. Seemed workable but not ideal by any stretch. A lot of people have "make the event-itis" which leads to stuff like this happening.
