Hi guys,

I wanted to share my & experience with Unigroup who recently worked on my GTR - I think these guys are the unsung heroes as I always knew about them but to put it simple, they are smaller than most workshops, don't really market themselves & most of their work is generated from word of mouth & recommendation (I now understand why they have a massive SAU fan base).
I wanted to run a 'flex tune' as I have always ran 98 so I took it into Mark (Yavus's right hand man) who was my first point of contact - Mark always had time to chat for as long as I wanted to talk, very accommodating as you won't get better customer service...from here, I decided to move away from my Vipec ECU to their BlackBox ECU as I ran out of inputs & the onboard map sensor supported the additional boost I required (plus it has other cool features such as fuel temp compensation) - this is Unigroups baby :)
Don't mean to rant too much but the car really is incredible - cold starts like my Subaru Forester, revs are more responsive & general cruising again is like a factory car!
I am obviously ecstatic with the end result hence why I wanted to shine the light on this workshop, really, Mark & Yavus are top blokes to deal with & it was very apparent to me from the onset that they are not the run of the mill workshop as they remind me of a bunch of mad scientists (just like that character 'Doc' from Back to the Future).
Paul - thanks for convincing me :)
Here is a thread on the ECU:

Glad to hear it worked out Mate, I know people like myself and Paul have been singing out praise for Yavuz and Mark for a long time now. Unfortunately the workshop gets stuck with a lot of people's half azzed projects which ends up wasting their time.

They are always willing to spend the time to talk to the customer and the really know what they are talking about. I'm glad the ECU has worked out for you as well, from what I've seen the black box is a really great product. If I hadn't already bought a LINK G4 Id be getting one for sure.

Like I said to Paul.. The black box makes a link g4 look like an PFC

Also a point to note, the dyno figures you get from UNIGROUP are legit, no fudged numbers.

Always good for a laugh when people put their cars on their dyno

Thanks Joe. I could have run an external map sensor and auxillary for additional outputs but I decided to bite the bullet...Better long term path is what I took as I wouldn't mind running a Zeitronix AFM.

I definitely don't regret it :)

Mark and Yavus gave me the option of keeping the Vipec or run the Blackbox. Explanation was that I was stuck in a 50/50 situation whereas most workshops would try upsell from the onset. Very honest guys :) again, customer service prevails!

Another happy customer :) Glad to hear ya happy with the boys work Marko sounds like they got her purring nicely for you and you made great numbers also.. I can help you out with a surge tank if you like mate?

Sounds good Mick. I've got a single pump running on the surge tank and want to run 2 pumps in parallel. I'll buy an 044 and once I have it, I'll remove the surge tank and come to you, where are u based?

Just east of Perth :D

Prob easier just to give it to me, Marko as I'm out there quite often destroying our livers. Mark up what you want and I'll explain it to Micko. Saves you the trip out to Windsor and back.

I can take a pic of the dyno graph and post it? Made 430kw on a boost level which fluctuates between 25-26psi.

My goal was mid 300's but I hit that pretty easily with about 380kw on 98 with 22psi...then I got onto the good stuff (ethanol) and exceeded my expectations. Funnily enough, I really enjoy driving it on low boost setting (14psi gate pressure).

Anyway back on topic, are you going to post of up the results Marko

Here u go:

429.6kw @ 25/26psi (e60)

412.8kw @ 25/26psi (e31)

405.6kw @ 20 psi (e60)

399.7kw @ 25/26psi (e18)

There is more in it once I go to e85 but I don't think I need it. I might treat it as another safety parameter.

    • Do you think the guys in Penrith are install the E85 Kit?
    • Thanks Pac!   I will reach out to them!
    • Yes, but 2 things of the top of my head, 1. Legalities of nitrous on a street car. 2. No chop chop. I fully understand that there's much cheaper ways to make power, and whilst a wet 50 shot is fairly cheap to install, bottle fills are expensive, and bottles always need to be refilled, and nitrous also has its own inherent issues with reliability, and tuning, from my experience of others using nitrous, it doesn't take alot to lunch a engine real quick if something goes slightly wrong when spraying, if I wanted a big chunk of additional powers, a spooly boy would make alot more sense, disregarding the additional engineering, supporting mods and other logistical issues of sticking a spooly boy on a car that came naturally aspirated from factory  In the end I'm not racing for sheep stations, and I don't really care if people make more power, or are faster than me, or spend less, or more than me, the only thing the car needs to do is drive around and make me smile, which it is doing now Really, I just want a shiny new intake to look at when I'm cleaning the engine bay, and of course, some more induction doorts, and maybe even that 5kw for that elusive 200hp cherry on top that I might get If the FAB9 intake plenum, TB and air filter box thing doesn't eventuate for whatever reason, Plasmaman do one, not as fancy looking, and a fair chunk of more cash is required when including the TB and other bits and pieces that are required to install it, but, it is another option that is available to me if FAB9 one does fall down (but I really, really.....really, want the FAB9 one though) TL;DR. You want what you want
