Sluggish Silhouette

hello all,

i recently bought a 86 r31 silhouette with perfect service history and that, but when i got it i noticed that it was very sluggish up until about 3000rpms in first gear, then it would suddenly kick in and i would feel a lot more power. i found this odd as i used to a 86 gx skyline, and that picked up from a standing start a hell of lot quicker than my silhouette does. i asked the mechanic that the bloke used to take it to and he says it is normal, i dont believe him. so if anyone could help me with what the problem may, or know of someplace good in the adelaide area i could get it checked out i would much appreciate it,

Does it bog down under 3000rpm or does it just feel weak?

Maybe your timing isn't set properly

It seems to bog down really bad, its an auto aswell so i dont know if that makes much difference. is the best thing to do is just get it checked out by a specialised mechancic???

sounds like the electronic auto is acting funny.. they're a piece of crap on the s3's apparently.

Either that or some exhaust problem?

Anyhow, probably best get another mechanic have a look. You could always change the spark plugs and leads, fuel filter -- may as well do it anyhow. Might make a difference.
