After an unlucky event i have been looking into full comp insurance - Just car

After speaking to 2 staff and the manager to clear things up, It was confirmed that any modification that is deemed illegal in your state will 100% void the policy at time time of claim

Even if that part was not deemed the cause of the accident.

Ie, Coil-overs are illegal in NSW. Even if fully disclosed with Just car i was told not to even bother taking out a policy as it will be void from the start, same with FMIC that is not from factory ect ect, Even things like non factory ride height can void a claim with Just car.

As most of us are would have Just Car Insurance.

Have any of you made a successful claim with a highly modified car?

Also they would only give a maximum agreed value of $15,000....... Does not matter how many receipts you can provide or mods done to the car

1. Engineered as road legal

2. R33 GTS4 $15k max - count your lucky stars if you get anywhere near that amount for insurance

- Sub $10k for a GREAT example. It's not rare/unique/valuable. Performance Mods don't necesarily increase value in fact it may even work against the value.

And the others you've tried are???

Lumleys SV, NRMA, Shannon's, Dawes only do high end stuff but you never know - must go through a broker with Dawes.

As Richard mentioned, an Engineering Certificate can be of immense use to ratify...

This is interesting, as they seem happy to add almost anything to be listed on the policy... thanks for sharing, good to know.

I also questioned this, more so with there online quotes. They said they need list all parts/mods of the car as an option for you to tick. As each state has different laws.

Im at the point were id just take out a policy anyway for some piece of mind

Terry il try out Lumleys SV, NRMA and see what they say.

Shannon's wont underwrite me due to age.

R32 GTR is road legal - stock but forged with -7's

(except for the current exhaust as you already know from hearing it!)

Neither is engineered nor needs to be, as advised by a certified engineer.

+ 3 times over Dickson pits in the last 11 years.

Edit: Last time 2011 after the rebuild.

Shannons will insure anyone. The under 25 thing is bullshit. I got my Modified GTR insured through shannons when i was 21. Basically the same as Richard. Forged motor, -7's etc. had no issue getting it insured and i did it all over the phone.

i called shannons to insure my R34 GTT and they would not until i am 25 (was 23 when i called) now insured with just car.

That's interesting I tried them when I was 23 (24 now) and they would cover me for $16000 but for $2500 a year . Not paying that!

I'm insured with just cars now.

you must not be an enthusaist :yucky:

IMO Shannons SUCK!.

I was with Shannons for ages, but found them to be pretty crap when it came time for them to do their job.

Accident repair. Not at fault. The faulty party admitted blame and their insurance accepted costs.

Shannons assessor was a total pain in the ass. Was not flexible on anything, was extremely tight down to the dollar.

Even to the point where a damaged tyre would not be replaced, but rather they would contribute only the % value of the remaining tread. ie they would only contribute 50% of the value of a tyre that has 50% tread.

But they happily charge me 100% of the fkn premium every year.!!!

I had multiple arguments with them over this and other matters, to no avail. My repairer, who i know, told me they are one of the worst to deal with.

In the end I forked out extra cash to the repairer to get the job done the way I wanted.

Now I'm with Lumley SV. Agreed value. Lower premiums. All modifications are noted in the policy.

I've heard companies offering some cheap car insurance under 25 years. You might wanna check it out online.

    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
    • 100% accurate!ย  We are a pack of know it alls....ย  But, I bet people go to you when they have a problem! I've been on a bit of a clean up rampage too over the past month!ย  I've thrown more shit in the bin over the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 3 years combined! Anyway, it's all good fun being different! My wife sometimes does not agree! ย
    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc. ย  It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things. ย  Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing" ย  As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things. ย  It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first. ย  There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one. ย  However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
    • Remember reading about this not too long ago. been for sale for a long timeย  this is like when the wife says you need to sell the car so you put it up for a ridiculous price no one will pay
    • You are perhaps suggesting that it is not a super car? Well....it's not an AU.
