Importing European Vehicle From Japan To Australia

Has anyone recently imported a European car from Japan to Australia? I'm an ex-pat hoping to take advantage of the Personal Import Scheme (one vehicle every 5 years which must be owned overseas for a minimum of 12 months), and am considering a late model RHD 6 Series BMW, though am concerned about how possible it will be to sell. I have done considerable research already online about compliance, shipping and costs in general (which seem to suggest a healthy profit), but if anyone has experience importing European vehicles from Japan and has advice also about what vehicle is best to sell at a profit, I'd be grateful to hear from you!

Are you aware that Dotars have changed the rules so that you would have to return with the car to live in Australia.

European cars will sell fine as long as you purchase something that will be in demand in Australia. Remember to go with a Rhd car as many cheap euro makes in japan are lhd.

My top choices would include a turbo porsche, any TVR or top spec BMW.
