Just have a few q's for any expierenced painters, Im respraying my car in acrylic with no clear finish so I want to know how long after Ive sprayed it can I cut polish it and is there any specific type of cutting compound I should be using.

The paint shop told me I could cut it 1 or 2 days after Ive sprayed it and some other people have said you need a few weeks for it to cure before you can cut it.

Nah its going yellow now, the reason no clear since its a drift car it will constantly have touch up jobs from damage so it is easier repair without having to also worry about re-applying and blending into clear coats.

ahh see, I assume its not metallic...heres a quik and easy way as I'm assuming its not a show car finish your after ...rub back with 1200 or 1500..then i like to use micro fine foam sanding pads to rub again, they seem to get a real smooth finish.. then just buff with good cutting compund and a medium/hard foam pad...Just ask your paint shop for cutter and pad, they will give you something that works, they may recomend a wool pad too.. just rememeber to work it in slowly for better finish, don't try to instant polish....What sort of polisher you using? ..

you'll never cut and polish the marks out by hand best way

buy/borrow a cheap buffer there like $50 and always come in hand at some point..

buy a g-mop buffing pad buy them from most paint supply shops

and a bottle of 3m cutting compound

use 1200 wet to knock the top off any bad bits in the paint then use 2000 by hand wet just to take the harsh scratches from the 1200 out then hit it with the buff and pad makes the job super quick i use this every day of the week never fails

good luck
