Is My Rb25 Dead?

Recommended Posts

Ok guys had a pretty bad experience with owning my first Nissan so far (might have to stick to toyota).

Was driving my S1 RS4 the other day and it stalled out. On inspection my top tank of my radiator basically exploded. water everywhere but didn't seem to overheat (or so the gauge said). So after 4 hours of waiting I got it home on a car trailer.

Got a new radiator to suit today from my local shop, got one for an auto 33 that suited perfectly. Gave the cooling system a flush and connected everything and tried to start the car to bleed the head of air. However she didn't start. It just kept turning it over until i pumped the accelerator a bunch and happen to start and it was not right from the get go, idle was rough and there was what sounded like lifter tick. Drove it down the road, had a pretty big loss of power and was not quite right, then stalled out again and overheated despite the temp gauge at half, so I'm assuming my temp sensor for the dash is stuffed.

Thought it might be head gasket due to the overheating but no smoke and no oil in coolant. Still doesn't want to start and when it does it runs like hell. Have I killed something electric by getting it wet? Have I caused some other major damage internally that isn't throwing the check engine light on?

Tomorrow I'm hoping to chuck it on the trailer and take it to someone to have a look but I thought I would still chuck it up here as well.

    • I'll snap up some photos when I'm back home, in the office today meeting my "in the office" quota. Have 2x Teams calls scheduled in, office culture they reckon.   I've never owned a proper off the shelf sub, I've always made or modified broken ones with Jaycar plate amps and/or car subwoofer drivers. The current (and broken) subwoofer has a proper home driver in it, Dayton driver, thos one https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/118/rss265hf-4-10-reference-hf-subwoofer-4-ohm FS of 25Hz, which is low but not low enough. Yeah, I think they were brought out to the market to compete with SVS. I would love a SVS PB-3000 but they're not cheap, especially after their price hike. From reviews online, it does look like the Tonewinner D6000 would destroy and with good amount of money saved too.
    • yeah, that happens too.  I'm really enjoying 4WDing at the moment, seen a few beautiful spots and want to go explore more of this enormous country.  The 370Z got a clutch LSD in it and a track day, great fun.  Getting the back end sorted out really rejuvenated my enthusiasm for driving it hard, the viscous one is poo especially in such a short and wide chassis.  The VLSD unpredictability was more benign in a long and skinny Skyline.
    • With my pre/power I use a remote trigger cable(3.5mm jack each end). I turn tv on, it turns both on via ARC. Or, just the pre with the remote or its streaming software, turns on both. Not that difficult at all. Obviously,  you would also want to actually update/upgrade over other factors in your life(bills, family, other hobbies, etc)
    • Yeah, nightfall was very "meh". And I'm crap at pvp, so feels like everyone has cheats(it's just my lack of skill). Final shape has been pretty good. New raid and dungeon are pretty good. If you want to give it a go, probably wait until it's on sale. But, as usual, most of it feels very familiar.
    • This morning was Kingswood's Microscopic Wars. It is the album's 10 year anniversary this year and we went to see them play the whole album as a special show a couple of months back. Was pretty spectacular.
